In order to prepare well for serving tourists, ensuring security and safety, and improving the quality of tourism services during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the April 30th - May 1st holidays in 2026, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration advised the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to issue Official Letter No. 1942/BVHTTDL-DLQGVN dated April 13, 2026, on strengthening state management of tourism; and issued Official Letter No. 684/CDLQGVN-QLLH dated March 27, 2026; and Official Letter No. 842/CDLQGVN-VP dated April 14, 2026, emphasizing the importance of ensuring security and safety and improving the quality of tourism services during the holidays, especially focusing on ensuring traffic safety in conjunction with organizing tourism activities; and implementing measures to promptly prevent negative behaviors and the exploitation of the holidays for illicit gain. In addition, coordinate with press and media agencies to strengthen the promotion and advertising of products, services, and destinations during the holiday; publish warnings about scams involving the purchase of cheap airline tickets, tours, and hotel rooms online; and strengthen the implementation of activities to ensure cybersecurity during the holiday.
Simultaneously, in preparation for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday (April 30th - May 1st, 2026), the People's Committees of provinces/cities and the State Management Departments of Tourism in localities have promptly issued directives to tourism service businesses in their areas to strengthen demand stimulation, attract tourists, and ensure the quality of service; develop and introduce attractive tour packages and new tourism products in the area during the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday (April 30th - May 1st) and the 2026 summer tourism season; and implement resolute measures to deal with individuals who harass, pester, or beg, causing inconvenience to tourists.
Based on the directives of the management agencies, many travel agencies, tourist accommodation establishments, restaurants, tourist areas and attractions have developed and implemented policies to reduce prices, stimulate demand, improve the quality of services for tourists, comply with legal regulations on registration, price listing and selling at the listed price; implement measures to ensure security, order, and safety for tourists, environmental hygiene and food safety; and provide sufficient personnel, facilities and necessary conditions to serve tourists...

Prior to the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday (April 30th - May 1st) and in preparation for the peak summer tourism season of 2026, many stimulus activities have been implemented by localities and businesses, with highlights including the 22nd Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2026 and the Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM 2026. Many localities and tourism businesses have proactively organized stimulus programs, discounts, and promotions on products and services during the holidays and summer of 2026, such as: the 2026 tourism stimulus program themed "Phu Tho - Come to Love"; Da Nang's series of stimulus programs to attract tourists in 2026 themed "Return to Origin"; and businesses such as Saigontourist, Vietravel, Ben Thanh Tourist, Vietluxtour, Dat Viet Tour… implementing many stimulus packages with discounts of up to 40%…
Besides refreshing existing products, during the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, April 30th - May 1st holidays, and the summer of 2026, localities and businesses have introduced many attractive new products such as: Phu Tho launching the "Sacred Hung Temple - Our Ancestral Roots" night tour; Hanoi launching a night tourism program at the special national historical site of Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple; Ho Chi Minh City organizing the "Following the Footsteps of History" journey, "My Beloved Ho Chi Minh City", "Saigon Night Showcase"...; Quang Tri launching Phong Nha Valley, an eco-tourism product exploring the cypress trees and Kling Cave, a cave exploration information center and a Son Doong VR 5D tour experience; Ca Mau welcoming visitors with many new experiential products such as forest trekking tours, "Muicamau Beach Camping" - beach camping at Ca Mau Cape; Khanh Hoa opening its doors to visitors to the Bao Dai Palace historical site; Ho Chi Minh City... Hue introduces tours exploring the Ngu Ha River and the Tam Giang Lagoon; Novotel Hanoi Hotel organizes the program "Experience the full culinary essence of the April 30th and May 1st celebrations"; JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel introduces the "Early Summer Escape" package…
Tourism transportation activities during the holiday period were vibrant across all modes, with significantly increased service capacity to meet the surge in travel demand. Flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations recorded occupancy rates of 80%-100%; Vietnam Airlines operated more than 3,800 flights, providing over 730,000 seats, an increase of approximately 13.3% in flights and 16% in seats compared to the same period in 2025; Vietjet Air added nearly 3,800 flights with a total of 832,000 seats provided during the peak period, an increase of 130,000 seats, equivalent to an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
The railway sector is increasing services on many key routes, adjusting ticket prices upwards by 3%, while simultaneously implementing various promotional programs offering discounted fares for different customer groups.
Inland waterway ports have increased the number of ferry trips to islands such as Cu Lao Cham, Ly Son, Con Dao, Phu Quy, and Phu Quoc to serve tourists and locals during the holiday. Simultaneously, the opening of several new expressways and the policy of free bus and train services in Hanoi have contributed to improved connectivity, creating convenience for residents and tourists throughout the holiday period.
The three-day Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday and the four-day April 30th - May 1st holiday, occurring consecutively, have led to a trend of tourism being distributed in phases, rather than concentrated in a short period. Some localities, such as Hanoi and Quang Tri, have launched new destinations, helping to regulate the flow of tourists instead of concentrating them too heavily in the central areas. This has helped localities alleviate pressure at destinations, proactively regulate and improve service quality. The proactive preparation and organization of numerous large-scale cultural events, festivals, sports events, and art performances in localities and tourism centers, especially the collaboration of businesses, has created many new tourism products, boosting demand for entertainment, sightseeing, and relaxation during the upcoming holiday and peak summer tourism season of 2026.
The dominant trend for the 2026 holiday season is a preference for short vacations with experiential itineraries that are both convenient and comfortable. Family and small group travel is increasing significantly, leading to a growing demand for personalized services. New trends include "slow travel," "micro-holidays," and seeking quiet spaces close to nature instead of packed sightseeing itineraries.
The growth in tourist numbers and the safe and quality operation of basic tourism activities during the Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30th - May 1st holidays in 2026 are the result of a combination of factors: improved transportation infrastructure and diverse modes of transport making travel easier; innovation in tourism products and improved service quality to meet the diverse needs of tourists; and proactive management by local authorities, all contributing to an enhanced tourist experience… These are also the best conditions for preparing for the upcoming Summer 2026 tourism season.
