Cruise ship catches fire on Saigon River

As of 5:10 PM on January 7th, authorities were still urgently working to extinguish the fire on a yacht on the Saigon River, in the section passing through Thanh My Tay ward (Ho Chi Minh City).

The scene of the fire

Earlier, at around 4:10 PM on the same day, residents discovered a fire breaking out on the yacht and reported it to the authorities.

Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police) immediately dispatched numerous vehicles and personnel to the scene to extinguish the fire.

On the river, four fire-fighting boats approached the yacht to spray water and extinguish the fire. On shore, five fire trucks and more than 30 officers and soldiers deployed measures to approach and control the blaze.

By approximately 5:30 PM, the fire was largely under control.

According to initial information, the yacht where the fire occurred was being used for restaurant business.
