A special space
Located within the Provincial Library (facility 1, 8 Tran Hung Dao Street, Nha Trang Ward), the reading room for the visually impaired offers a very special experience. Watching their hands trace each line of Braille to find information on the pages, we can truly feel the love of reading, the yearning for knowledge, the desire to understand life and the world around them, and the resilience to overcome adversity of these visually impaired readers. Besides Braille books, the reading room also features e-readers with audiobooks; a reading application for the visually impaired installed on smartphones; and computers with voice support. This space not only provides knowledge but also offers enriching reading experiences, helping the visually impaired confidently connect with the world around them.

Ms. Bui Thi Kim Loan (Nha Trang Charity Center for the Blind) said: “Deep down, we all long for access to knowledge in books. Braille books are truly a valuable resource. This is especially valuable now that the Provincial Library has a reading room for the visually impaired with a rich collection of Braille books. Here, we also get to familiarize ourselves with and use assistive technology devices that make reading more convenient and enjoyable.” Mr. Le Van Ngay (Nha Trang Charity Center for the Blind) shared: “For a long time, members of the Nha Trang Charity Center for the Blind have wished for a reading place specifically for the visually impaired. Now that it has become a reality, we are very happy and moved. The space here is very spacious, and the facilities and equipment for reading are well-cared for. We will encourage each other to spend time reading regularly.”
A bridge to reading culture.
According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Huong, Director of the Provincial Library, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Book and Reading Culture Festival 2026 contributed to spreading the message "Read to innovate - Learn to reach further." Books are aimed at everyone, including visually impaired readers on their journey to knowledge. Visually impaired readers access books in their own way, full of determination. The reading room for the visually impaired aims to bring the light of knowledge to less fortunate readers, thereby narrowing the gap and creating equal opportunities in accessing books for the visually impaired. The reading room also helps people understand and share the desire for entertainment, the aspiration for self-learning, and the pursuit of knowledge of the visually impaired; it is a sustainable bridge to develop reading culture for vulnerable groups. The reading room for the visually impaired contributes to realizing the goal of equal access to information, knowledge, and reading culture among all strata of the population and "leaving no one behind" in the process of building a learning society and developing reading culture.
In the near future, the Provincial Library will issue reader cards to make it more convenient for visually impaired readers to read and borrow books and reading equipment. When conditions permit, the Provincial Library will organize mobile libraries for the visually impaired in communes and wards, especially in remote areas, mountainous regions, and islands.
The reading room for the visually impaired covers an area of approximately 40 square meters and is well-equipped with facilities and equipment to meet the reading needs of visually impaired individuals, such as: tables, chairs, and fans; one e-reader for the visually impaired; five radio-readers with 60 integrated resources; 1,288 Braille books and audiobooks on CD; and three computers with voice support. The reading room is open to readers during business hours on weekdays.
