The Automotive Assembly Plant Simulation System – a project applying virtual reality technology in technical training and business modernization – has been researched and implemented by the University of Information Technology and Communications ( Thai Nguyen University) for over a year. Based on a platform that recreates five stages of electric vehicle assembly in a highly interactive three-dimensional space, it allows learners unlimited practice in a safe environment, with significantly lower long-term operating costs compared to real equipment. The project also opens up a direction for training high-quality human resources capable of operating technology, controlling automation systems, and controlling quality to meet international standards.
According to Dr. Hoang Duc Quynh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Innovation and Technology Transfer, University of Information Technology and Communications: This project is implemented not only to transfer technology to businesses but also to serve training within the university. Accordingly, students will fully experience all stages and operations of an automobile production and assembly line, or other key technologies. Students will also no longer feel overwhelmed when entering a real-world work environment.

In another project, a group of lecturers and students from the University of Industrial Technology (Thai Nguyen University) researched, explored, and created an automated machine to produce uniform battery products, thereby reducing manual labor. The batteries produced by these automated machines have the potential for application in various electrical energy sectors, such as: lithium battery production; electronic device manufacturing; electric vehicles; and renewable energy…
Lecturer Tran Anh Duc, head of the project and lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Industrial Technology, said: "The members of the project team have researched and invented an automated machine that can produce uniform battery products. In practice, if businesses need to order batteries of different sizes, this automated machine can produce those products."
In line with the policy on science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation, Thai Nguyen University has implemented numerous solutions to promote research and the development of science and technology projects among its faculty and students. Many of these projects have met practical requirements and have the potential for commercialization of scientific products. Several member universities, such as the University of Industrial Technology, the University of Information Technology and Communications, and the University of Agriculture and Forestry, have had many science and technology projects successfully implemented.
The dominant fields of science and technology remain: Electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunications; information and communication technology and artificial intelligence; biotechnology and high-tech agriculture... Many research topics and projects in these fields, when put into practice, have contributed to improving labor productivity and the competitiveness of businesses, while promoting digital transformation and the development of the digital economy .
In fact, for science and technology projects, especially those undertaken by university lecturers and students, to be put into practice, the crucial element is the linkage between the three stakeholders: the state, research institutes/universities, and businesses. Therefore, educational institutions, state management agencies, and businesses need to continue to meet, connect, and cooperate in research and technology transfer. This will contribute to bringing research results and scientific and technological applications into practice sooner, serving the socio-economic development of each locality and the country as a whole.
