The Information Security Department (Ministry of Information and Communications) has issued a warning about the impersonation of singers and artists for fraudulent purposes.
Previously, actor Khoi Tran became a target of malicious individuals who impersonated celebrities, using AI technology to fake images and voices, and making video calls to scam people.
The actor stated that an individual named NVS had used his image and created a fake Facebook account to commit fraud.
Notably, this individual used AI technology to spoof images and voices, and made video calls to gain the trust of victims, then tricked them into transferring money.
After successfully obtaining the money, the scammer blocked the victims' social media accounts. Some victims mistook these accounts for the actor's real accounts and posted extremely offensive comments.
The impersonation of famous artists for malicious purposes on social media has been a problem recently.
Accordingly, a common characteristic of fake pages is that they often ambiguously add the words "official" or "FC," or a fake blue checkmark next to the artist's name. These actions directly harm the reputation and image of the artist.
