'Being rewarded for winning a gold medal will give me money to buy milk for my child.'

Good news came to Vu Thi Hoa (Vietnam women's national team) and Ha Thi Linh (boxing), as the two outstanding Vietnamese athletes at the 32nd SEA Games were awarded 100 million VND by Metfone ( Viettel Cambodia).

Athlete Ha Thi Linh, who just won the gold medal in boxing, also received a gift. The girl from the Tay ethnic group helped Vietnamese boxing quench its thirst for gold and fulfill its target by bringing home the second gold medal on the final day of competition.

"The fighter from the Philippines is very strong, with a height similar to mine at 1.70m, so it wasn't easy to overcome this opponent. Before that, I was under a lot of psychological pressure because my teammate, world runner-up Nguyen Thi Tam, was supposed to win the gold medal for the team. Unfortunately, Tam was injured, so my coach and teammates put their faith in me."

Ha Thi Linh was awarded a prize.

Before entering the decisive final match, Coach Cuong (Nguyen Nhu Cuong) told me that, in addition to performing well to meet the team's goals and live up to the investment in me, I should try my best to win the gold medal to earn money to buy milk for my children. His encouragement was very sincere and perfectly suited my difficult situation, as my husband is taking care of our two children while I train and compete far from home," the boxer from Lao Cai shared.

Vu Thi Hoa was selected as the outstanding young player nationwide in 2022. In 2023, Vu Thi Hoa was called up to the national team to compete in the first qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics in Nepal and participated in the 32nd SEA Games, playing as a forward.

In 2018, Vu Thi Hoa's father passed away in a work accident, and her mother, due to poor health, could only do light work. Vu Thi Hoa had to help her mother raise three younger siblings. The Vietnamese women's national team player had to use all of her salary and bonuses to help her mother provide for her siblings' food and education.

Within the team, Vu Thi Hoa always trains diligently, and is especially highly regarded by coach Mai Duc Chung for her professional skills. At the 32nd SEA Games, the female player from Hanoi I Club performed with great effort. For Vu Thi Hoa, this is a reward that motivates her to continue striving and contributing to the Vietnamese women's national team.
