Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan has been appointed as the General Director of EVN, effective today, December 1st.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan is an electrical engineer with a Master's degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, and has over 30 years of experience in the electricity industry.

Mr. Tuan began working in the electricity industry in August 1990 as a specialist in the Planning Department, then transferred to the Basic Construction Department of Hanoi Power Company (now EVNHANOI).

At EVNHANOI, Mr. Tuan has held various leadership positions at the departmental level. Starting in July 2008, he was appointed Deputy Director of Hanoi City Power Company. In November 2013, he was further appointed Chairman and General Director of EVN. From October 2019 to the present, Mr. Tuan has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVNHANOI.

The decision was made to appoint Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan as General Director of EVN to replace Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nhan.

Previously, in July, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the conclusions of an inspection regarding the management and operation of electricity supply by EVN, which resulted in localized power shortages in the northern region, causing public outrage and affecting people's lives, production and business activities, and the investment environment.

In this conclusion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested EVN to conduct a review and clarify the responsibilities of the general directorate, advisory boards, member units, and individuals and groups involved.

According to information presented at the regular government press conference in October, held on November 4th, a representative from the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises stated that the review and disciplinary process at EVN related to the inspection findings has been largely completed.

Accordingly, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises is coordinating with the Party Committee of the Central Enterprise Bloc to direct EVN to issue disciplinary decisions against officials and Party members.

Specifically, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises has proposed disciplinary action in the form of a reprimand against former Chairman of the Board of Directors Duong Quang Thanh; Member of the Board of Directors and General Director of EVN Tran Dinh Nhan; Deputy General Director of EVN Ngo Son Hai; and the director and deputy director of the National Power System Dispatch Center.

Furthermore, the State Capital Management Committee at enterprises is continuing to direct disciplinary action against other related individuals in accordance with the principles of fairness and objectivity, ensuring that no individuals or groups with violations or shortcomings are overlooked.
