(Chinhphu.vn) - In the context of global climate change and the ever-increasing demand for electricity, using energy economically and efficiently is no longer a slogan but has become an essential part of national energy policy.

Actively promote large enterprises and customers to participate in the implementation of the electricity load adjustment (DR) program.

As the electricity management unit in the Central Highlands region, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) has clearly demonstrated its pioneering role, proactively implementing many practical and creative programs to contribute to the effective implementation of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy for the period 2019 - 2030.

The highlight of 2024 is recognized as an important milestone when EVNCPC not only excellently completed the electricity saving targets but also pioneered creativity in communication work, coordinated synchronously with localities, units, and people to turn slogans into specific and practical actions.

Spreading the habit of saving electricity from the community to each household

In 2024, EVNCPC coordinated with localities to implement the program "Households save electricity", which is one of the highlights in promoting electricity saving behavior among residents. The program attracted more than 500,053 households in 13 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands to participate, creating a wave of practical and effective action.

With a modern, multi-channel approach from customer care applications, seminars, direct consultation to digital media platforms, the program not only provides knowledge but also directly guides people on simple, easy-to-implement ways to save electricity. Small actions such as turning off lights when not in use, replacing LED lights, using high-performance equipment... gradually become daily habits in families.

Outstanding results include more than 2,000 households winning awards, saving 59.1 million kWh of electricity in the dry season of 2024, which is also the time when the power system is under the highest pressure. These impressive numbers are proof of the outstanding effectiveness when communication is linked to practical actions and has the support of local authorities, the electricity industry and the community.

"The Household Electricity Saving Program is a very meaningful program, not only reducing the monthly living expenses of households but also contributing to raising awareness and changing people's electricity usage habits towards more savings and rationality; thereby, helping households have a green, clean, civilized and modern lifestyle through safe, efficient, economical and environmentally friendly use of electricity. Through the program, the emulation movement to save electricity is also spread, models and initiatives in effective electricity saving practices of households are replicated, positively impacting the awareness of economical electricity usage of the community", said Mr. Le Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy General Director of EVNCPC.

Not stopping there, EVNCPC also coordinated to implement meaningful social programs such as "Lighting up the countryside roads", sponsoring the replacement of public lighting with LED lights, supporting the household electricity system for 1,566 poor households and policy families, and integrating electricity saving propaganda into annual customer gratitude activities to demonstrate the Corporation's deep sense of social responsibility.

One of the important milestones in EVNCPC's work of using energy economically and efficiently in 2024 is the modern, synchronous and multi-platform communication strategy. EVNCPC has deployed a series of large-scale communication campaigns, associated with events such as the Earth Hour Campaign 2024, the program "Students with knowledge of safe - economical - effective electricity use", the emulation movement "Family of union members saving electricity"...

In particular, the school propaganda program has made a strong impression, attracting 57,967 entries from primary, secondary and high school students. Through paintings, propaganda clips and presentations, students not only vividly access knowledge about saving electricity but also become "little propagandists" spreading the message to their families and society. The contest has truly demonstrated the effectiveness of communication in the school environment, where awareness is sown for future generations.

In addition, communication work on digital platforms has also been promoted by EVNCPC with outstanding quantity and quality: 117 articles were posted on the "Electricity Saving" section on the Corporation's website; 427 articles and reports in the press; more than 250 digital communication contents ( video clips, infographics, drawings) were widely shared on fanpages, internal groups and social networking groups...

Not stopping at passive communication, EVNCPC also proactively organizes competitions, seminars, interactive activities such as instructions on how to use electricity economically via app/web, organizes radio broadcasts, mobile propaganda vehicles... helping to reach nearly 2 million customers across the region.

A notable highlight is that during the Earth Hour 2024 event, EVNCPC recorded a power saving output of 48,900 kWh, an increase of 19.6% compared to 2023, demonstrating the effectiveness of widespread communication combined with specific actions.

Paintings submitted to the contest "Students with knowledge of using electricity safely - economically - effectively" were selected and displayed at APEC Park in Da Nang.

Accompanying businesses and governments

Not only focusing on households or students, EVNCPC also focuses on coordinating with organizations, agencies and enterprises to ensure the overall effectiveness of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy in the period of 2019 - 2030. In particular, EVNCPC focuses on disseminating policies and laws in the field of electricity saving to large electricity-consuming enterprises; consulting customers on applying solutions and models of economical and efficient electricity use; commercial electricity load forecasting program, load shifting, load adjustment (DR).

In 2024 alone, EVNCPC has worked directly and signed commitments with 297,727 customers in the administrative, public lighting, production, business groups... to implement electricity saving targets according to Directive 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister . The committed electricity saving output reached 327.7 million kWh, thereby demonstrating high determination in load management and responsible energy use.

In addition, member units in the whole Corporation have actively participated in seminars and discussions on energy efficiency, coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Provincial People's Committees, and Departments of Industry and Trade of localities to deploy, monitor and improve the effectiveness of law enforcement on electricity saving.

"By implementing the propaganda work on electricity saving well, EVNCPC's electricity saving output has increased steadily over the years. Specifically, in 2021 at 427.7 million kWh, it increased to 504.1 million kWh in 2023 and by 2024 reached 739.7 million kWh, equivalent to 2.92% of commercial electricity. Along with that, the number of nearly 297,727 customers signing a commitment to save electricity is not only the result of propaganda efforts, but also a testament to the community's companionship with EVNCPC in the journey of sustainable development. We believe that when people, businesses and the electricity industry act together, the use of energy saving and efficiency will become a new norm in the social community. Thereby, EVNCPC will make an important contribution to the successful implementation of the goal of saving 5-7% of total energy consumption nationwide as set out in the National Program on Energy Saving and Use. With a tight plan, effective implementation and active communication strategy, EVNCPC has demonstrated a key role in realizing the goal of energy saving in the Central Highlands region. The results achieved in 2024 are a solid foundation for the Corporation to continue implementing programs in the period of 2025-2030, towards a sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly power system. EVNCPC not only saves electricity but also builds a culture of responsible energy consumption in the whole society.
