The International Football Federation (FIFA) has officially invited South Korean YouTuber Yoon Su-jin to attend the match between South Korea and Mexico at the 2026 World Cup on June 18, following racist behavior from a Mexican fan during a previous match, according to SCMP .
FIFA stated that the match would carry a message against hatred and promote inclusion and mutual respect. The match took place on the International Day Against Hate Speech, established by the United Nations in 2021 to address the rise of hate speech, xenophobia, and discrimination globally.
According to a statement quoted by South Korean media, Yoon Su-jin, the owner of the YouTube channel InoCat, has agreed to accept FIFA's invitation.

The incident occurred during a Group A match between South Korea and the Czech Republic at the Jalisco Stadium in Zapopan, near Guadalajara, Mexico, on June 12th. South Korea won the match 2-1.
In the video posted by Yoon Su-jin, the Mexican man initially smiles and waves at the camera before using two fingers to pull the corners of his eyes outwards. This gesture, commonly known as a "slant-eye," has long been considered derogatory towards East Asians.
After the video went viral on social media, the Mexican fan's identity was confirmed as Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes, President of the Association of Surveyors and Geodesists of Jalisco State (CITGEJ). The strong public backlash led CITGEJ to announce Bernal's dismissal from his position as president. He subsequently issued a public apology.
"I sincerely apologize to the YouTuber, the Korean community, and all Mexicans who are disappointed by my actions," Bernal said in a video posted on social media.
FIFA, an organization that pursues a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of racism in football, said it has blocked Bernal's ticket-buying account.

In a post on June 17, Yoon described being the target of hate speech as "a very sad moment," but affirmed that the incident would not change her feelings for Mexico.
"One person doesn't represent the whole of Mexico. The vast majority of Mexicans I've met have been very kind," she wrote, adding that she will continue her journey of exploring and sharing the most beautiful places in the country.
The incident also sparked much debate on social media. Some argued that Bernal's actions were simply "Mexican humor" and not intended to offend anyone. However, many others called on football fans to condemn the behavior. "Don't expect other cultures to treat your thoughtlessness as a joke," one commenter wrote.
