On August 15th, the head coach of the Vietnamese futsal team, Diego Giustozzi, announced the list of 20 Vietnamese futsal players preparing for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers. This squad brings together a balance of experience and youth.
A regrettable aspect of this qualifying round is the absence of Vietnam's number one futsal goalkeeper, Ho Van Y. Previously, he also missed the opportunity to participate in the 2025 National Futsal Cup.
The Vietnamese futsal team's goalkeeper is absent due to a ligament injury and has not yet recovered from surgery performed earlier this month. It is expected that goalkeeper Ho Van Y will be out for at least six months.

The Vietnamese national futsal team is scheduled to assemble from August 18th at the Thai Son Nam Gymnasium (Binh Dong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The core squad includes veterans Pham Van Tu, Pham Duc Hoa, Nguyen Manh Dung, Chau Doan Phat, Tu Minh Quang, Nguyen Minh Tri, and Nguyen Thinh Phat – the top scorer of the 2025 HDBank National Futsal Championship. Chau Doan Phat won the Best Player award, while Pham Van Tu was honored as Best Goalkeeper in both the National Championship and the 2025 National Cup.
Two newcomers to the national team are goalkeeper Chau Thach Khanh Cuong (Thai Son Nam) and Nguyen Quoc Giau (Ho Chi Minh City Youth). Many young players continue to be given opportunities, such as Tran Quang Nguyen, Trinh Cong Dai, Vu Ngoc Anh, and Nguyen Da Hai - the best player of the 2025 National Cup.
After a training camp in Vietnam, the team will travel to Kuwait for a training camp from September 9th to 14th. They will play two friendly matches against the Kuwait national team before heading to China for the qualifying round.
In the Asian qualifiers, Vietnam is in Group E along with Lebanon, China, and Hong Kong (China), and will face these opponents on September 20, 22, and 24, respectively.

The qualifying round features 31 teams competing for 15 spots, with host nation Indonesia advancing to the finals in January 2026.
In their most recent training camp, coach Giustozzi's team defeated Saudi Arabia (2-1, 3-2) and won and drew against world number 7 Kazakhstan (4-1, 2-2), creating positive momentum towards their goal of qualifying for the continental tournament.
