Rice boat capsized, dozens of tons of rice sank in the canal

A boat carrying rice was traveling on Ca Dua canal (Binh Hoa commune, Tay Ninh province) towards the Vam Co Tay river when it hit a stake, causing dozens of tons of rice to sink into the water.

The boat capsized, dozens of tons of rice sank in the canal.

At around 2:30 p.m. on August 15, a boat carrying more than 40 tons of rice, traveling on the Ca Dua canal towards the Vam Co Tay river, from the People's Committee of Binh Hoa commune, Tay Ninh province to Hung Thanh commune, Dong Thap province, encountered an accident, causing the entire amount of rice on the boat to sink to the bottom of the canal. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties.

Mr. Tran Quoc Ha - the driver (residing in Hung Thanh commune, Dong Thap province) said: "I was transporting for hire for someone else. While traveling, the boat hit a sharp stake in the canal, causing a hole in the bottom of the boat, water flooded in and capsized the boat. Even though I discovered it in time, I couldn't handle it. In just about 5 minutes, all the rice had sunk."

Authorities support the salvage of rice

Immediately after receiving information about the rice boat sinking, the authorities of Binh Hoa commune quickly arrived at the scene to assist in handling the incident. Currently, the authorities are bringing the rice ashore and salvaging the sunken boat.

Initial estimate, damage is about 268 million VND ./.
