Compared to the beginning of May until now, coffee prices in the domestic market of Vietnam have decreased by a total of nearly 28%, equivalent to 36,000 - 36,300 VND/kg. This is a sharp decline, clearly reflecting the impact of global oversupply and consumption demand that has not clearly recovered.

According to experts, coffee prices are unlikely to increase sharply this week without support from exchange rates or positive fluctuations from the international market. The current trend is still sideways or slightly decreasing, as technical indicators show that selling pressure is dominant.

In addition, the market is also affected by international trade policy factors. In the US, a 90-day moratorium on increased import tariffs on coffee and some other products is set to expire on July 9. When this ends, the risk of the US re-imposing higher tariffs is causing concern for many businesses in the supply chain, even for shipments that have already been shipped. The tax moratorium is only temporary, and re-imposing tariffs will affect prices and business plans of related parties.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market decreased slightly on two floors:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery September 2025: Down 38 USD/ton, to 3,623 USD/ton.

November 2025 delivery: Down 24 USD/ton, to 3,569 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

September 2025 delivery: Down 1.85 cents/lb, to 301.9 cents/lb.

December 2025 delivery: Down 1.8 cents/lb, to 295.6 cents/lb.

Global coffee demand is forecast to decline slightly by 0.5% by 2025, according to a new report from Rabobank. This is largely due to persistently high coffee prices, as businesses pass on storage and operating costs to consumers, weakening purchasing power in many markets.

On the other hand, global coffee supply is forecast to increase sharply. Production in the 2025-2026 crop year could reach around 171.1 million bags, much higher than the previous crop year. This changes the global supply-demand balance, from a deficit of 900,000 bags in the 2024-2025 crop year to an estimated surplus of 1.4 million bags in the following season.

In this context, experts say coffee prices will continue to face pressure in the short term. Forecasts of high production, especially from Brazil, increase the risk of prolonged oversupply. Meanwhile, consumption demand has yet to show clear signs of recovery due to high prices and weak purchasing power in major markets.
