As of the morning of April 23rd, the global coffee market today saw a reversal, with strong gains on both international exchanges.

Specifically, on the London exchange, the price of Robusta coffee futures contracts for May 2026 delivery reversed sharply, rising by $82/ton compared to yesterday, reaching $3,539/ton. The January 2027 futures contract also reversed course and increased by $65/ton, reaching $3,191/ton.

Similarly, on the New York exchange this morning, Arabica coffee prices also recorded a sharp increase across the board compared to yesterday. Specifically, the May 2026 contract surged by 13.4 cents/lb, reaching 302.4 cents/lb. The March 2027 contract also reversed course and rose sharply by 5.7 cents/lb, to 267.05 cents/lb.

At the close of the most recent trading session, Arabica coffee prices on the Brazilian exchange recorded mixed movements. Specifically, the May 2026 contract reached 393.15 cents/lb, a slight increase of 4.2 cents/lb compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, the September 2026 contract saw a slight decrease of 1.5 cents/lb, reaching 336.0 cents/lb.

According to Reuters and Barchart , the gains in this morning's trading session were supported by concerns that a prolonged conflict between the US and Iran would keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and disrupt global coffee supplies, which fueled short-covering activity in the coffee futures market.

In the domestic market, coffee prices today (April 23) recorded a new adjustment, increasing by 1,000 VND/kg across the board. Currently, coffee prices in the Central Highlands are trading in the range of 87,300 - 87,800 VND/kg in key growing regions.

Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Lak today increased sharply by 1,000 VND compared to yesterday, currently trading at 87,800 VND/kg.

Similarly, today's coffee price in Gia Lai province is trading at 87,800 VND/kg, also a sharp increase of 1,000 VND compared to yesterday. Gia Lai and Dak Lak are the two localities with the highest coffee prices nationwide today.

Meanwhile, the price of coffee in Lam Dong today is trading at 87,300 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. This is the lowest price in the region.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), since the beginning of April, coffee prices on the world market have decreased due to the prospect of increased supply from producing countries such as Brazil and Vietnam, while consumption demand is recovering more slowly than expected.

According to market research reports, Vietnam's coffee exports in the first quarter of 2026 increased sharply in volume but decreased in value. Export volume reached over 590,000 tons (up 15.2%) but value only reached US$2.75 billion (down 5.1%) due to a sharp 17.6% drop in average export price compared to the same period in 2025.

Market experts assess that the price increase in the last trading session is linked to a still uncertain global market environment, with technical adjustments following recent declines and the continued uncertainty regarding supply. Even with the Brazilian harvest now in focus, current supply is still insufficient to exert sustained pressure on international prices. Therefore, in the short term, domestic coffee prices may still experience mixed movements, albeit within a narrow range.
