Pig prices today, July 4, witnessed strong downward pressure nationwide, with the Central and Southern regions being the most deeply adjusted regions.

Pig price in the North

On July 4, the live hog market in the Northern region continued to witness a slight adjustment in some localities. Thanh Hoa was the only province in the region to record a decrease of VND 1,000/kg, bringing the live hog price here down to VND 67,000/kg - lower than the average of the region in the past few days.

On the contrary, other localities such as Hanoi , Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai still maintain stable prices, commonly around 68,000 VND/kg, with no new adjustments today.

However, the North is still the region with the highest price level in the country, with a fluctuation range of 67,000 - 69,000 VND/kg. However, the downward trend is starting to spread from the border provinces and the midlands, showing that supply pressure is increasing.

Pig price in Central region

On July 4, the Central region became the region under the heaviest pressure to reduce prices, with many provinces losing the 68,000 VND/kg mark.

Gia Lai continues to be the most worrying area as the price of live pigs here has dropped to only 65,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the country and marking the third consecutive decline. This reflects the oversupply situation in the Central Highlands region, while also showing the lack of connection in the production and consumption chain.

In Quang Tri, the price of live pigs dropped to 67,000 VND/kg, officially losing the 68,000 VND mark. Provinces such as Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Ngai are currently stuck at 67,000 VND/kg, reflecting weak consumption demand and purchasing power that has not recovered after a period of stagnation.

Livestock farmers in this area said that the situation has not shown any clear signs of improvement, while the cost of animal feed remains high, causing profit margins to narrow significantly.

Pig price in the South

In the South, the live hog market continues to face widespread price declines. A series of provinces and cities reported prices falling to 68,000 VND/kg, such as Vinh Long, Dong Thap, An Giang – losing the 69,000 VND mark after just one trading session.

Lam Dong also recorded a slight decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 69,000 VND/kg, while Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai kept the price at 70,000 VND/kg, considered important supports for prices in the Southern region.

Ca Mau continues to be a rare bright spot when maintaining the price of 70,000 VND/kg, thanks to the advantage of an effective livestock - slaughter - consumption chain. Experts assess that a closed production model like that in Ca Mau is the key to helping pork prices become more stable amid market fluctuations.
