59 years ago, on August 22, 1966, in Thuan Hanh village (former Binh Thuan commune, now Binh Hiep commune), Company 2 (under Battalion 52) coordinated with the commune's guerrilla forces to defeat dozens of attacks by more than 1,500 troops of the US Airborne Brigade; destroyed 380 enemy troops, injured hundreds of enemy troops; shot down 8 helicopters, damaged 4 other enemy helicopters, forcing the enemy to retreat.

This was the first battle where local armed forces independently fought directly with the US expeditionary force, marking a step forward in the maturity of the provincial armed forces.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, delegates, officials and local people offered flowers and incense at the stele house of Thuan Hanh Victory Historical Site, silently commemorating the heroic martyrs - the outstanding sons who did not spare their blood and bones, bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.
