Gia Lai welcomes its first tourists of the year.

To kick off the series of events for the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026, on the morning of January 1st, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, in coordination with Phu Cat Airport, Vietnam Airlines, and the Tourism Association, organized a welcoming ceremony for the first passengers arriving in the locality on the first flight.

The first visitors of 2026 to arrive in Gia Lai were warmly welcomed.

Vietnam Airlines flight VN1392 departed from Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City at 5:55 AM and landed at Phu Cat Airport at 6:50 AM on the same day (January 1st). 185 passengers and crew officially made their first arrival in Gia Lai province by air.

Of those, the first 30 tourists and crew on this flight were welcomed by Gia Lai province right at the airport. Immediately afterwards, the tourists were also given a tour of Quy Nhon by the province with the following itinerary: Phu Cat Airport - coastal road - Thi Nai Bridge - Twin Towers - Nguyen Tat Thanh Square.

Ms. Le Thi Hong Xuyen, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, was surprised by the warm welcome from Gia Lai province. Ms. Xuyen said that during the 4-day New Year's holiday in 2026, she and her friend planned to visit many places. Gia Lai has both beaches and mountains, so there are many beautiful and famous tourist destinations. She hopes that in the future, many more tourists will visit Gia Lai.

According to Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this is an annual activity of the tourism industry, demonstrating the hospitality of the people of Gia Lai, welcoming visitors from all over the country to visit relatives, sightsee, relax and experience Gia Lai - a safe, civilized, friendly and attractive destination.

This also presents an opportunity to strengthen the connection between tourism development and the aviation industry. It is hoped that Vietnam Airlines will operate new routes and flights with high quality, reasonable prices, and professional service to serve tourists visiting Gia Lai during the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, in 2026, the province has been designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the host locality for the National Tourism Year 2026. Organizing the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026 is of particular importance, creating momentum for the comprehensive development of the province's tourism industry.

The event will introduce and promote the tangible and intangible cultural values, resources, and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Gia Lai in particular, attracting domestic and international tourists, creating a breakthrough in tourism, contributing to socio-economic development, striving to welcome 15 million visitors in 2026, and generating revenue of 35,000 billion VND.
