Rice price today August 15: Market is flat, export is improving

On the morning of August 15, rice prices in the Mekong Delta continued to be stable. Trading volume in the market was not high due to limited end-of-season rice supply. Popular fresh rice varieties such as IR 50404, Nang Hoa 9, Dai Thom 8, OM 18, OM 5451, OM 308 fluctuated around 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg. In many localities, buying and selling activities were slow, prices fluctuated little.

At large warehouses, supply is low, and purchase prices remain stable. At retail markets, rice prices remain unchanged, with Nang Nhen rice being the highest at VND28,000/kg, while regular rice is priced at VND13,000-14,000/kg.

The price of by-products such as OM 504 fragrant rice bran fluctuates at 7,500 - 7,700 VND/kg, bran at 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg, and rice husk at 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg. These items also maintain the same price as yesterday.

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable. 5% broken rice was at $395/ton, 25% broken rice at $371/ton, 100% broken rice at $339/ton. In the first 6 months of the year, Vietnam exported 4.72 million tons of rice, surpassing Thailand to hold the second position in the world , only after India. The export market has been expanded to many African and South Asian countries, helping to reduce dependence on the Philippines. However, abundant supply from India is creating downward pressure on prices, challenging Vietnam's export profits.
