According to The Verge , Sony has just announced that it will increase the price of all PlayStation 5 models in the US market by $50 , starting from August 21. In an official blog post, the Japanese technology giant explained that the reason comes from the "challenging economic environment", especially the import tax policy issued by President Donald Trump's administration, causing high production and distribution costs.

According to the new prices, the standard PlayStation 5 will be sold for $549.99 , the Digital Edition for $499.99 , and the PlayStation 5 Pro for $749.99 . Sony emphasized that the adjustment only applies to the console, while the prices of PS5 accessories remain the same.

The move is not surprising. Since April, Sony has raised the price of the PS5 in many major markets such as the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In May, the company also mentioned the possibility of increasing the price in the US to offset the impact of tariffs.
