Specifically, tiger shrimp (40 pieces/kg) are priced at 155,000 - 160,000 VND/kg; 30 pieces/kg at 170,000 - 175,000 VND/kg; 20 pieces/kg at 215,000 - 220,000 VND/kg; whiteleg shrimp (100 pieces/kg) at 89,000 - 91,000 VND/kg; 70 pieces/kg at 110,000 - 115,000 VND/kg; 50 pieces/kg at 177,000 - 122,000 VND/kg; and 20 pieces/kg at 215,000 - 220,000 VND/kg. At these prices, after deducting investment costs, shrimp farmers are earning a relatively high profit.

Having just harvested four ponds of whiteleg shrimp, Mr. Tran Xuan Phong (Thao Lang Hamlet, Vinh Trach Ward, Ca Mau Province) said that after deducting expenses, his family earned a profit of nearly 500 million VND. According to Mr. Phong, although the yield from his family's whiteleg shrimp farming model in ponds lined with tarpaulin is lower than that of super-intensive farming models, the relatively high prices still allow farmers to make a profit.

Next to him, Mr. Duong Tung Lam, who has nearly 20 years of experience in shrimp farming, said that in 2025, despite unfavorable weather conditions (mainly heavy rain), his family's shrimp farming thrived thanks to proactive management of all stages of production. With four ponds of shrimp farmed using the super-intensive model nearing harvest, Mr. Lam expects profits to exceed half a billion VND.

Shrimp prices are currently high, bringing joy to shrimp farmers. Mr. Tran Minh Son, a super-intensive shrimp farmer with nearly 10 hectares (Thanh An hamlet, Long Dien commune, Ca Mau province), said that the high shrimp prices over the past few months have helped farmers make a profit compared to previous periods. Mr. Son estimates that with current prices, farmers are earning a profit of around 70,000 to 80,000 VND per kilogram. He currently raises whiteleg shrimp using a high-tech, two-stage model, which yields high productivity, minimizes environmental impact, and allows the shrimp to reach larger sizes, fetching higher prices.

Explaining the reason for the stable and high shrimp prices, some shrimp traders in Ca Mau said that it is due to increased domestic market demand, as well as increased raw shrimp purchases by factories to fulfill export orders at the end of the year. However, because it is currently the off-season, production has decreased, and the supply is scarce, causing shrimp purchase prices to rise.

According to Mr. Pham Van Muoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province, Ca Mau currently has a shrimp farming area of 417,992 hectares; of which, 21,918 hectares are for intensive farming; 10,481 hectares for super-intensive farming; and 385,593 hectares for improved extensive farming… By the end of September 2025, farmed shrimp production is expected to reach 55,000 tons. Ca Mau's annual shrimp production is maintained and improved in quality and value based on three pillars: production organization capacity, value chain linkages, and farming areas meeting international standards. Many farming areas have achieved international certifications (ASC, BAP, Organic), enhancing the brand of Ca Mau shrimp.

To contribute to ensuring the regional growth target (fisheries, agriculture, and forestry) reaches 5.54% in 2025, contributing to the province's GRDP growth of 8% in 2025 and ensuring double-digit growth from 2026 onwards, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province stated that the unit's orientation for shrimp farming development in the coming time must be based on sustainable factors.

Specifically, the province will continue to encourage the application of biosafety farming practices and VietGAP standards; strengthen technical training for farmers; and control the quality of shrimp fry and feed inputs. In particular, for the super-intensive shrimp farming model, the province aims to maintain a super-intensive shrimp farming area of 13,200 hectares, with an average yield ranging from 20-21 tons/ha/year; of which, at least 1,000 hectares will apply a circular production process, eliminating wastewater discharge into the environment. Simultaneously, the province will expand the area of concentrated and dispersed super-intensive farming using wastewater-free processes to 400-500 hectares.

Ca Mau province is also developing 100,000 hectares of improved extensive shrimp farming, applying scientific and technical methods to achieve an average yield of 550 kg/ha/year. Accordingly, the province is promoting the transfer and application of advanced technical processes and technologies into improved extensive shrimp farming to sustainably improve productivity and quality, contributing to rapid, strong, and sustainable development.

Simultaneously, develop production organization models based on cooperation and chain linkages associated with certification standards; expand production scale, innovate content and methods of operation, and link production with consumer markets; gradually form social enterprises investing in the shrimp farming sector with sufficient capacity to expand production and product consumption.

Develop 15-20 production linkage chains between cooperatives and businesses in improved extensive shrimp farming; approximately 30% of the farming area will apply traceability and be certified with organic, VietGAP, and ASC standards.
