Gold prices plummeted, losing nearly 35 million from their all-time high.

Domestic gold prices have recently been continuously plummeting, mirroring the trend of global gold prices. The price of SJC gold bars has fallen by as much as 34.7 million VND/ounce in just 4 months. Those who bought SJC gold bars at their historical peak have lost up to 37.7 million VND/ounce.

In the trading session on May 28th, the price of SJC gold bars fell by as much as 3.2 million VND/ounce, closing at 154.5-157.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). This is the lowest price for SJC gold bars in nearly 5 months.

The price of SJC gold bars started 2026 at 150.8-152.87 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price) and then surged to reach a historical peak of 187.2-192.2 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price) at the end of January.

Subsequently, the price of SJC gold bars fluctuated wildly, rising and falling by as much as one million dong in February and March before entering a prolonged period of sharp decline from April to the present.

Thus, compared to the historical peak set at the end of January, the current price of SJC gold bars has decreased by as much as 34.7 million VND/ounce (selling price).

Adding the difference of 3 million VND per tael between the buying and selling prices, those who bought SJC gold bars at the historical peak have lost up to 37.7 million VND per tael.
