Analyst Carsten Menke from Julius Baer bank commented: "The fall in gold prices is due to positive news surrounding global trade... This reduces risks to global economic growth and reinforces the risk-on sentiment that is prevailing in financial markets."
Hopes for a trade deal have boosted global sentiment, helping stocks hit new record highs. However, Menke added that safe-haven demand from investors is cooling, while central bank buying remains steady, though not as strong as earlier in the year. He remains bullish on gold in the long term.
