E10 gasoline is nearly 500 VND cheaper per liter than RON 95 gasoline.

RON 95 gasoline is blended with ethanol to create E10 gasoline, which has been sold nationwide since June 1st. The current price of E10 gasoline is approximately 490 VND/liter lower than RON 95 mineral gasoline.

According to Circular 50/2025, from June 1st, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical standards) must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. E5 RON 92 gasoline will continue to be sold until the end of 2030 to ensure compatibility with older motorcycles.

There are two common types of gasoline on the market: RON 95-III and RON 95-V, corresponding to emission standards level III and level V, respectively; with level V having higher environmental standards.

Currently, the retail price of RON 95-III gasoline, effective from 3 PM on May 21st, is 25,540 VND/liter, RON 95-V gasoline is 26,440 VND/liter, and E5 RON 92 gasoline is priced at 24,340 VND.

Meanwhile, the selling price of E10 RON 95-III bioethanol gasoline announced by major businesses is 25,050 VND/liter; E10 RON 95-V gasoline (mainly at Petrolimex stores) is sold at 25,950 VND/liter.

For stores in Zone 2 (locations far from ports, warehouses, or production facilities with higher transportation costs), the retail price of E10 RON 95-III is listed at 25,550 VND/liter, and E10 RON 95-V at 26,960 VND/liter.

At 25,050 VND/liter, E10 RON 95-III gasoline is about 490 VND/liter cheaper than RON 95-III gasoline, and similarly, the difference between E10 RON 95-V and RON 95-V is also 490 VND/liter.

Many petroleum businesses are currently upgrading their distribution systems and preparing warehousing and retail infrastructure to launch the sale of E10 bioethanol fuel from June 1st. A number of large companies have already pioneered the widespread deployment of this bioethanol fuel at their affiliated gas stations nationwide.

On their official websites, many major car manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, and Ford affirm that E10 bioethanol fuel does not harm engines. For example, Toyota Vietnam asserts that all Toyota models (including new and used cars manufactured after 1997) are compatible with E10 fuel.

Therefore, vehicles using E10 gasoline are not affected in terms of performance and safety. There are no additional maintenance, repair, or servicing costs compared to using conventional gasoline types previously.

Honda Vietnam also stated that customers can rest assured using E10 bioethanol fuel for the models officially distributed by the company. According to the manufacturer's recommendations, Honda motorcycles and cars use fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher, and for motorcycles, the ethanol content does not exceed 10%.

With the specifications stipulated in QCVN 01:2022/BKHCN, E10 gasoline is considered suitable for the technical requirements of Honda vehicles, and does not cause damage to the engine and fuel system.

Currently, ethanol-blended gasoline is used in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide . In many countries, E10 gasoline is considered an important stepping stone in the transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources. The US, EU, Thailand, Brazil, and others have all widely used E10 gasoline for many years.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand and the Philippines are two pioneering countries in the use of biofuels. Thailand currently mainly consumes E10 and encourages E20, while the Philippines mandated the use of E10 since 2011 and applied many tax incentives for biofuels.
