The 35th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is attracting the attention of many readers at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (China).

This year's fair has more than 770 exhibitors participating.

With the theme " Culinary culture and future life", through displaying and introducing books on culture, scenic spots and Vietnamese cuisine , the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau introduced many attractive destinations and dishes from all regions of the country, helping readers and visitors have a comprehensive view of the landscape and cuisine of Vietnam.

Food books not only introduce dishes but also incorporate stories about their origins, cultural significance, traditional cooking methods, or the regions where the dishes were created, making viewers feel attracted and want to explore them immediately, thereby contributing to spreading Vietnamese cuisine to the people of Hong Kong (China) and international friends.

In recent days, the booth of the Vietnamese Consulate General at the fair has attracted a large number of visitors to learn about destinations, as well as Vietnamese cuisine and take the opportunity to check in with Vietnamese conical hats.

The Consul General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, Ms. Le Duc Hanh, said that this year's book fair is an opportunity for the Consulate General of Vietnam to promote Vietnamese tourism. Every year, the fair attracts a large number of people, especially families, to visit.

Many Hong Kong people have visited and loved Vietnam tourism, books - especially with this year's culinary theme, coinciding with Vietnam's strengths, with dishes that have made a name for themselves on the world culinary map.

According to Consul General Le Duc Hanh, the fair is also an opportunity to promote Vietnamese cuisine in Hong Kong (China). In Hong Kong (China), there are currently many Vietnamese restaurants, from street food to mid-range and high-end, however, the high-end restaurant segment is still small, the popular segment still has a lot of room for development, especially after many Hong Kong people learned more about Vietnamese food when traveling to Vietnam.

Ms. Le Duc Hanh said that in order to further develop Vietnamese cuisine in Hong Kong (China), the Consulate General hopes that the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong will unite and join together to organize events to introduce restaurants and quintessential Vietnamese dishes, research to facilitate the import of standard Vietnamese ingredients to Hong Kong, and promote the employment of skilled Vietnamese chefs in Hong Kong.

Consul General of Israel in Hong Kong and Macau, Mr. Amir Lati, said that Israel and Vietnam have good relations in the fields of trade, technology and agriculture. He has visited Vietnam several times and enjoyed some dishes and was especially impressed with the Vietnamese bread. Vietnamese bread is very delicious and famous.

Mr. Amir Lati said that Vietnamese bread is also growing rapidly in Israel thanks to fresh, healthy ingredients and Vietnamese coffee is also very popular.

The Pictorial products of Vietnam News Agency also attracted the attention of many readers at this year's book fair. With the goal of foreign information, the culinary section of Pictorial is often meticulously designed and printed, beautifully. The articles promptly reflect culinary events, new trends, or seasonal dishes. The content of the articles is not only to introduce dishes but also to convey Vietnamese culinary culture to the world.

Within the framework of this year's book fair, Nguyen Hanh Phuong, the record holder for "The youngest English-language fantasy writer in Vietnam," author of the English-Vietnamese bilingual series "Star Squad: The Search for Great Power," introduced her book series to book lovers in Hong Kong.

The cultural significance of the book fair has gone far beyond mere book transactions. Over the years, the Hong Kong Book Fair has not only served as a benchmark for the publishing industry, but also as an annual cultural festival for residents and tourists. The average per capita consumption of the book fair in 2024 is expected to be HK$912 (about US$116), up 4.6% from the average of HK$872 in 2023. The book fair also attracts a large number of mainland Chinese and international tourists, becoming a cultural window to promote Hong Kong's soft power.

In the midst of the hot summer of July, the book fair once again becomes the cultural epicenter of Hong Kong as readers crowd together amid a sea of books, not only to turn the pages but also to see the stories that Hong Kong continues to write.

This year's Hong Kong Book Fair is expected to attract 1 million visitors over seven consecutive days. The fair ends on July 22.
