Urgently fix, review and ensure safety of reservoir system serving production

On October 13, the provincial working delegation led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, directly inspected and directed the work to overcome the incident of landslide of the dam of the circulating water reservoir serving the production of Thai Nguyen Black Metallurgy Joint Stock Company in Nam Hoa commune.

Due to the impact of storm No. 11, the dam of the circulating water reservoir serving the production of Thai Nguyen Black Metallurgy Joint Stock Company collapsed. Immediately after the incident, the Provincial People's Committee directed departments, branches and localities to urgently coordinate with the enterprise to deploy measures to prevent water from overflowing into the environment, collect and treat sludge and assess the level of impact on the surrounding area.

Up to this point, the landslide area has been repaired to ensure safety, preventing water from continuing to flow out of the lake.

During the inspection, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the leaders of Thai Nguyen Black Metallurgy Joint Stock Company to urgently fix the problem, review the entire reservoir system, reinforce the embankment system to ensure absolute safety during the production process; proactively provide clean water to affected households until the test results of the competent authority confirm that the water source is safe for use; mobilize human resources, machinery and people to implement measures to overcome mud, soil, environmental sanitation, and support people to stabilize their lives.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with specialized agencies to collect water and soil samples to assess environmental impacts, report to the Provincial People's Committee on causes, responsibilities and remedial measures. The Nam Hoa Commune Government coordinates with enterprises to count and inventory property and crop damage (if any) to have timely support plans. The Department of Health directs the Nam Hoa Commune Health Station to examine and monitor people's health, and provide timely medicine if there are signs of environmental impacts.

Faced with complicated weather developments, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue closely monitoring the business's recovery efforts, preventing similar incidents from occurring, ensuring environmental safety and the lives of people in the surrounding area.
