The titles "Outstanding Athlete of the Nation", "Outstanding Sports Team of the Nation", "Outstanding Coach of the Nation", and "Outstanding Disabled Athlete of the Nation", "Outstanding Disabled Coach of the Nation" are prestigious awards presented annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Sports and Physical Education, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, and the Vietnam Paralympic Committee to athletes and coaches with outstanding achievements, as voted on by sports journalists nationwide.

In 2024, Trinh Thu Vinh performed excellently at the Paris Olympics, reaching the top 4 in the women's 10m air pistol event and the final in the women's 25m sport pistol event. This was a significant step forward for the shooter born in 2000, who competes for the Public Security Forces team. Thu Vinh also won a gold medal at the Asian Shooting Championships earlier that year, along with shooter Pham Quang Huy.
In the Outstanding Coach category, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was once again honored. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet led the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to successfully defend their title at the 2024 Challenger Cup; win a bronze medal at the FIVB Challenger Cup; a silver medal at the 2024 VTV Cup; a silver medal at the 2024 Sea V-League; and qualify for the 2025 World Championship alongside the 32 best teams.
