Information from the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) said that in August 2025, HNX organized 18 auctions of Government bonds issued by the State Treasury, mobilizing VND 11,464.63 billion.
Government bonds issued during the month included terms of 5, 10, 15 and 30 years, mainly 10-year and 15-year terms, with issuance proportions of 86.79% and 9.63%, respectively, equivalent to VND9,950 billion and VND1,104 billion.
At the auction at the end of August 2025, the winning interest rates for the 5, 10, 15 and 30-year terms were 2.80%, 3.45%, 3.45% and 3.47%, respectively, up 5, 16, 5 and 2 basis points, respectively, compared to the winning auction at the end of July 2025.
In the secondary market, the listed value of Government Bonds as of August 31, 2025 reached VND 2,433,145 billion. The average trading value reached VND 18,571 billion/session, an increase of 18.21% compared to the previous month. Of which, the Outright trading value accounted for 76.12%, the Repos trading value accounted for 23.88% of the total trading value of the whole market.
Foreign investors' transactions accounted for 3.91% of the total market transaction value, of which foreign investors net bought VND869 billion.
In August 2025, the trading yield of Government bonds increased the most in the 25-year, 5-7-year and 3-year terms, currently reaching an average yield of about 3.5476%; 2.6297% and 2.1383%, respectively. On the contrary, the yield decreased the most in the 7-10-year term, currently reaching an average yield of about 2.8654%.
Medium- and long-term Government Bonds are traded a lot, of which 10-year, 5-year and 25-30-year terms are traded the most with proportions compared to the total transaction value of the whole market being 18.17%; 15.33% and 11.18%, respectively.
The commercial banking sector continues to maintain its dominance in terms of market share in the Government Bond market, with the proportion of Outright and Repos transaction value compared to the entire market being 47.31% and 91.64%, respectively.
