On July 12, alarming information about the difficult situation of the Russian Army Group North in Kindrativka began to spread among users of the Russian social network Telegram. Rumors about the powerful attack of the Ukrainian Army (AFU) on the flank of the Russian troops in Kindrativka from the villages of Yastrubyne and Stepne, which almost cut off the Russian troops from the rear, spread rapidly on social networks.

Kindrativka, a village in Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast that had a pre-war population of about 800, is located about 3 km from the Russian border, 33 km from the regional capital Sumy and 23 km west of Yunakivka, where heavy fighting is currently taking place. Kindrativka was identified by the RFAF as a bridgehead for an attack on the Khotin stronghold, which is part of the second line of defense protecting Sumy.

Kindrativka is also the administrative center of the Kindrativka village council, which includes the villages of Konstantinivka, Stepove and Novokostiantynivka. Russian marines captured Kindrativka in early June, and since then the AFU has been trying to dislodge the Russians.

On the orders of General Syrsky, in this area, the AFU created a local advantage in terms of troops and FPV UAV detachments, twice that of the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF). The AFU General Staff even withdrew troops from Yunakivka and Miropolye, to reinforce this direction; obviously in order to create an advantage. There is no doubt that the AFU's task is to encircle and destroy the Russian garrison here; to protect Khotin from a distance.

According to the information of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing information from a Russian military blogger, it was reported that "AFU entered the center of Kondratovka village", meaning they had captured the village. ISW also said that the RFAF Northern Group Command, redeployed units of the 155th Marine Brigade, from Alekseyevka to Kondratovka as reinforcements.

The help has indeed arrived on time. On the morning of July 13, a source close to the AFU expressed his dismay: "Yesterday everything (for the Russians) was hanging by a thread, but today things don't seem so urgent for them anymore.
7.jpg
The reserve forces (RFAF) were mobilized in time to break the encirclement. It is true that they were not able to flatten the flanks, but they (RFAF) stabilized the situation and the Russian units began to retreat relatively calmly,” the quote ends.

The Russian Military Summary channel reported that the village of Kondratovka had been recaptured by Ukrainian troops. The situation was still difficult, but it had improved. The "turnaround" of Kondratovka had little effect on the AFU, as the RFAF had consolidated its positions on the northern outskirts of the village of Miropolye.
14.jpg
This means that although the Ukrainians have stormed into the village, it is likely that street fighting has begun, where the defenses are usually stronger. Furthermore, RFAF reinforcements have arrived in the area, and they could turn the village into a place to attrit the Ukrainians with firepower,

Moreover, in the Severo-Slobozhansky direction, RFAF strike groups broke into the village of Ryzhivka (Sumy Oblast, Ukraine), to prevent AFU reinforcements from entering Tetkino (Kursk Oblast, Russia), expanding their zone of control in this area.

“The situation in Sumy is a bit more complicated, because there is currently very fierce fighting in the main direction. On the left (west) side, a number of villages have been recaptured by the AFU, but the AFU has to transfer more troops to where the fiercest fighting is taking place,” said Russian military expert Yuriy Knutov.

Although the AFU focused on breaking through to the right flank (west wing), if they did not have enough reserves, it would be to the RFAF's advantage, as the Russians, with their superior numbers, would reinforce the west quite quickly and calmly. This was a tactical move that gave the Russians a significant advantage and made the prospects for advancing towards the city of Sumy quite bright, Knutov emphasized.

However, on the front line, the RFAF Northern Group achieved success, despite all the efforts of the AFU General Staff. Currently, the shock troops of the Northern Group have captured an abandoned livestock farm, about 3 km from Pisarevka, advancing to Varachino in fierce fighting. At the same time, the Russians also hold the bridgehead at Yunakivka, which is now largely under Russian control.
14.jpg
"Over the past 24 hours, the AFU has launched seven unsuccessful counterattacks, including one in the Kindrativka area, two near the village of Sadki, and four in Yunakivka. The AFU General Staff is not giving up its efforts to regain lost positions, sending counterattacks every day. The Northern Group of Forces is repelling the AFU counterattacks and continues to advance towards the center of the region," Severny Veter reported.

The Sumy front is indeed witnessing fierce fighting, according to Igor Turenko, a Ukrainian prisoner of war captured on the Sumy front, his comrades do not want the conflict to continue, they do not understand what they are fighting for, and so morale among the Ukrainian soldiers is low.
