In the latest training session of the Vietnamese team on the occasion of FIFA Days in September, coach Kim Sang Sik suddenly called up a series of new names, most of whom were quite young, attracting much attention.

Specifically, the captain of the Vietnamese team called up more than half of the squad such as Quang Kiet, Hoang Phuc, Gia Hung, Du Hoc, and Quan Van Chuan to test themselves in two closed friendly matches with Nam Dinh and CAHN clubs.

This move can be understood as coach Kim Sang Sik starting the "purification" process and looking for new elements for the Vietnamese team after more than 1 year in power.

Time for a blood change?

However, the big question is: is this really the right time for a massive "blood change"? In fact, the above young players, despite their potential, have not shown much in the last two friendly matches with Nam Dinh and CAHN.

Even some expected names from the U23 generation, such as Van Khang, Dinh Bac, or maybe Thanh Nhan, Trung Kien, Ly Duc, have only partially met the professional requirements.

However, the plan to replace the force will require careful calculation by Mr. Kim Sang Sik.

These players can play well at the U23 level, but when they step up to the Vietnam national team, they have to face and compete with more prestigious seniors, which is clearly not possible.

Compared to their seniors, even though they are older, they may not have as much desire to conquer as before, but their experience, courage and stability in playing style are still far behind.

Therefore, the possibility of massive personnel changes in the Vietnam team is unlikely to happen in the near future. And coach Kim Sang Sik is probably conducting exploratory tests, gradually searching and screening the most suitable factors.

The generational transition will take time, patience and careful planning. The immediate goal is to stabilize the squad, interspersing potential young faces so they have the opportunity to rub shoulders and gradually mature, before a complete "blood change" really takes place.
