President Luong Cuong receives President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Corporation – Stephanie Pope in Seattle
The reception took place right before the handover ceremony of the first Boeing 737-8 to Vietjet , part of a 200-aircraft contract worth 32 billion USD - the largest aviation order between Vietnam and the United States. Ms. Stephanie Pope expressed her honor to welcome the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, considering this a testament to the increasingly close relationship between the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chairwoman of Vietjet emphasized: "Each new aircraft not only brings more flying opportunities to passengers, but also brings confidence, jobs and prosperity to the people of the two countries. This is a testament to the steadfastness and belief in a long-term, prosperous future of cooperation."

She expressed her aspiration to build Vietnam into an international aviation hub, with Boeing accompanying her in the fields of training, services, component manufacturing and maintenance. On this occasion, she thanked generations of Boeing leaders, more than 170,000 workers involved in aircraft production, as well as the support of leaders and people of the two countries throughout the cooperation journey.
With 576 aircraft on order, Vietjet is among the few airlines in the world with the largest order, despite the global aircraft shortage. On more than 170 international and domestic routes, the airline has transported more than 250 million passengers, becoming a bridge bringing Vietnam and the Asia- Pacific region closer to the world, from Japan, Korea, India, China to Australia and Europe.

President Luong Cuong highly appreciated the cooperation between Boeing and Vietjet, and asked Boeing to continue to deliver on schedule and to consider investing in production and maintenance facilities in Vietnam, thereby creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global supply chain. He affirmed that Vietnam always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for US investors to cooperate effectively and long-term.
The handover ceremony of the first Boeing 737-8 to Vietjet – taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Vietnam-US relations – is not only a trade milestone, but also a symbol of Vietnam's trust, friendship and strong aspirations to rise in the new era.
