Due to the nature of the wood industry, wood processing and trading establishments contain many flammable materials such as sawdust, dry wood, paint, solvents, and continuously operating electrical systems, thus posing a high risk of fire and explosion if not strictly controlled. Recently, the commune police and the local fire and rescue team have identified strengthening fire prevention and control at wood processing and trading establishments as an urgent requirement. The commune police have deployed professional officers to coordinate with local police to monitor the area, educate business owners to raise their awareness and responsibility, inspect electrical systems, promptly replace deteriorated wires, and install automatic circuit breakers to minimize the risk of short circuits and fires.

Areas for storing raw materials and finished products must be neatly arranged, ensuring safe distances and minimizing the accumulation of sawdust and flammable waste. Wood processing and trading establishments must be fully equipped with fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, fire fighting instructions, and develop realistic emergency response plans. Regular training in fire prevention, firefighting, and evacuation skills for workers and staff at these establishments should be maintained to ensure everyone is prepared to respond proactively in case of an incident.
According to Major Ngo Xuan Tiep, Deputy Team Leader of the Cho Moi area Firefighting and Rescue Team, the team, in coordination with the Long Dien Commune Police, organized awareness campaigns, training, and practical exercises on how to handle fire and explosion incidents for workers and business owners. Through these awareness campaigns, training, and professional guidance, business owners and workers improved their response skills and effectively implemented the "four on-the-spot" principle in fire prevention and control.
Having worked in the wood industry for over 20 years, Mr. Bui Cong Khanh, owner of My The wood production facility in My Hoa hamlet, Long Dien commune, is aware of the consequences of fire and explosion incidents and always adheres to fire safety regulations. In addition to equipping the workshop with portable fire extinguishers, his facility has installed an automatic fire extinguishing system with two high-capacity pumps and a storage tank to prevent incidents. Workers at the facility also receive regular training and guidance from police officers to ensure safety and prevent fires and explosions while working.
According to Major Ho Tuan Nha, Deputy Head of Long Dien Commune Police, there are currently more than 200 businesses in the commune that meet fire safety requirements, including over 100 wood processing businesses. The commune police are resolute in ensuring fire safety at these establishments and have directed the neighborhood police teams to regularly monitor and remind businesses to properly implement fire safety measures; they also guide businesses in installing the 114 fire alarm application and require them to sign commitments not to violate fire safety regulations. The commune police are strengthening and training neighborhood fire safety teams and public fire fighting points to respond promptly to emergencies. Since the beginning of 2026, there have been no fires or explosions in the area.
Besides the attention of all levels of government and functional forces in preventing fire incidents throughout the area, business owners themselves have raised their awareness and complied with fire safety regulations by investing in and renovating workshops, expanding escape routes, and applying early fire warning technology to minimize damage caused by fires and explosions. Mr. Phung Huu Tai - owner of Tan Dan wood furniture business said: “Because I trade in wood products, I am very conscious of fire safety. Thanks to the guidance and training from the commune police on fire safety at the facility, I have equipped myself with all the necessary fire-fighting equipment to detect and intervene promptly when an incident occurs.”
Prevention is better than cure. Each wood production and business establishment in Long Dien commune is demonstrating a high sense of responsibility, proactively implementing effective preventive measures to protect the lives and property of the business and the community, contributing to maintaining security, order, and socio-economic development of the locality.
