Maintain the image of the tourist destination, especially during peak season.

On June 3rd, at a meeting on addressing the issue of street vendors and touting of tourists, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong directed departments, agencies, and localities to resolutely and strictly handle violations, maintaining the image of Da Nang as a tourist destination, especially during the peak tourist season.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to be the leading unit, coordinating with the Department of Health and relevant units and localities to strengthen the management of street vending activities and resolutely handle the situation of vagrancy and begging in the city; including organizing regular and continuous campaigns, applying information technology (extracting camera footage from streets and tourist destinations) to remind, penalize and deter cases of street vending and soliciting customers…

Focus on implementing the city's People's Committee's documents and plans on ensuring security and order, preserving the image of the city as a tourist destination ; addressing the issue of vagrancy and disguised begging in Da Nang city in 2025; coordinating among forces within the city's 389 Steering Committee, including the close participation of border guard posts, in handling the issue of street vendors and touting.

“The city is striving to develop new products and services, and invest in infrastructure to attract tourists, but if the environment is not guaranteed, it will be very difficult to retain tourists; especially those markets with high demands for the destination environment. Therefore, it is necessary to decisively address the situation of street vendors harassing tourists, beggars, and disguised forms of begging, and maintain the image of a civilized, friendly, and hospitable destination,” the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized.

According to Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the coming time, the department will direct the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang's tourist beaches to strengthen security and order within its management scope; coordinate with local functional units and forces to organize, review, and inspect and handle street vending activities; and report the situation of beggars and those engaging in disguised begging to competent authorities for handling. At the same time, it will educate and advise tourists not to use products or services from street vendors, and not to give money or items to beggars or those engaging in disguised begging.
