Despite the scorching heat, many workers are still persevering in the construction of the National Highway 51 overpass project, part of the 991B road project.

Braving the sun and wind

At 11 a.m., on the construction site of the National Highway 51 overpass, part of the 991B road project, the road surface was scorching hot, the asphalt and formwork covered in grease reflecting the sunlight, making the atmosphere even more stifling. Wiping away sweat, worker Thai Van Tuan from Long Bien Bridge and Road Construction Joint Stock Company shared: "The heat rises from my feet and head; it's tiring, but I'm used to it. Every time we finish a section, we feel energized."

At the Phuoc An bridge construction site, a crucial transportation hub connecting the Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport system, the atmosphere is equally bustling. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, from Investment and Development Joint Stock Company 620, stated: "No matter how tired we are, we cannot afford to be careless, because even a small mistake can affect the entire project."

On the concrete beams under construction, calloused hands meticulously inspect each section of rebar, each joint, and each concrete pour. All with the same goal: ensuring the project stays on schedule while maintaining its quality.

The challenges are far greater than in other areas, particularly for package 39 of the Phuoc An bridge project. This section is being constructed at an altitude of 60-70 meters, where strong winds frequently occur, posing significant obstacles for workers and equipment. Le Minh Thao, one of the workers there, shared: “Strong winds and scorching sun make everyone tired. But progress waits for no one, so we have to take advantage of the dry weather to work.”

Climbing high, braving the sun, and ensuring their safety, they are like silent but persistent warriors on the construction site, ensuring that each bridge section is reconnected and each meter of road is completed.

The unsung heroes who built the avenue.

To take advantage of favorable weather conditions before the rainy season, contractors proactively adjusted working hours, starting early in the morning, taking longer lunch breaks to avoid the intense heat, and working overtime during cooler periods. At the same time, prioritizing the health of their workers was also a top priority.

Mr. Pham Van Kien, the project manager for the National Highway 51 overpass, said: "We require the construction team to have sufficient water and electrolytes, and a medical team checks their health every two hours. Thanks to this, the workers have enough strength to stay on the construction site even on sunny days."

Behind every gradually completed section of road lies the sweat and tireless perseverance of hundreds of people. For them, each meter of road is a milestone, a testament to teamwork and pride in their labor.

"When completed, that highway or bridge will not only connect the land but also connect aspirations for change," shared young worker Tran Van Xuan, his eyes shining with pride.

On major transportation construction sites, road construction workers are the unsung heroes, contributing day after day to building the highways of the future. Without seeking glory or praise, they work quietly, like new roads silently paving the way for the aspirations of this land.
