The Deo Ca Special-Use Forest Management Board is responsible for managing a total area of over 7,300 hectares. Of this, approximately 5,700 hectares are designated as special-use land and forest, while over 1,600 hectares are designated for production purposes. Currently, the unit has only 7 staff members, including 3 civil servants and 4 forest rangers seconded from the Dak Lak Provincial Forest Protection Department.
Despite having limited personnel, the unit handles a massive workload, ranging from forest management and protection, forest fire prevention and control, to overseeing the operations of 25 investors leasing forest land, as well as implementing forest protection contracts with local communities.

According to calculations, on average, each employee at the Deo Ca Special Forest Management Board is responsible for more than 1,000 hectares of forest. This is a huge pressure given the rugged terrain of Deo Ca Pass, with many high, steep mountainous areas, difficult transportation, and its distance from residential areas.
In light of this situation, the Deo Ca Special Forest Management Board proactively developed a suitable management plan, fostering a sense of responsibility among each officer and employee. Task assignments were carried out scientifically , ensuring that every area had a designated person in charge, while also strengthening coordination with seconded forest rangers, forest protection contract teams, and forest protection forces of enterprises leasing forest land.
Currently, the unit is building and coordinating effectively with three forest protection contract groups in Hao Son Bac, Hao Son Nam, and Vung Ro villages. Through mobilizing local people to participate in forest protection, many key areas are monitored more regularly, promptly detecting and preventing acts of forest resource encroachment.
The Management Board also regularly coordinates with the regional Forest Ranger Station and the forest protection forces of businesses leasing forest land to organize mobile patrols and inspect areas at risk of forest fires and violations of forestry laws.

Thanks to the synchronized implementation of various solutions, no forest fires have occurred since the beginning of 2026. This is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating the effectiveness of prevention efforts and the decisive involvement of all forces in forest protection.
“The results of the unit's forest management and protection work in the past period are the foundation for carrying out important tasks in the future. The Deo Ca Special Forest Management Board urgently needs attention and support in terms of human resources, equipment, and operating funds from relevant levels and sectors to effectively perform its duties,” said Mr. Dang Chi Hieu, Deputy Director of the Deo Ca Special Forest Management Board.
