We visited the family of Mr. Nguyen Duc Phuc, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of Xuan Quan commune (Van Giang district), and were impressed by his ornamental garden, covering more than 700 square meters , with a variety of flowers and bonsai trees. Mr. Phuc said: “Previously, I worked as a freelance laborer, the work was hard, unstable, and the income was low. Five years ago, after being encouraged by comrades from the Military Command of Xuan Quan commune and taken to visit some ornamental plant businesses in the area, I decided to borrow capital to open a garden. In recent years, the ornamental plant market has been booming, so the garden brings in a profit of about 160 million VND each year, and my family's life has become more comfortable thanks to selling plants.”

Not only Phuc's family, but many militia members' families in Xuan Quan commune are now engaged in the ornamental plant business, enjoying a comfortable life, and some families have even become wealthy from this profession. To support and help each other in their business, the militia members in the commune regularly exchange and share experiences in planting, caring for, and finding markets for ornamental plants. In particular, they readily share their knowledge and experience in ornamental plant cultivation with their comrades if needed. This not only helps them develop economically but also builds solidarity and close bonds among the militia members in the commune.

Based on the fact that citizens of militia age are the primary breadwinners and economic pillars of their families, a stable family economy helps militia members avoid having to seek work far from home. This significantly contributes to ensuring that localities have sufficient militia personnel to participate in concentrated training sessions or carry out tasks, especially unexpected tasks such as combat readiness duty and disaster prevention and control in the area.

Understanding this, the Military Command of Van Giang District always proactively advises the District Party Committee to direct localities to prioritize providing loans with preferential interest rates to militia members, especially those in difficult circumstances, to develop their businesses. The unit closely coordinates with several businesses in the area to create job opportunities for militia members and demobilized soldiers. In addition, the commune-level military agencies regularly organize visits and study tours for militia members to learn from effective economic development models in the region; encouraging militia members to share experiences and support each other in their business endeavors.

The concerted efforts of local Party committees, authorities, departments, and mass organizations, especially the pivotal role of military agencies at all levels in providing material support and moral encouragement, have helped improve the living standards of the militia forces in Van Giang district, enabling them to confidently carry out their duties. In recent years, the locality has consistently ensured that over 96% of militia members participate in training; 100% of those who completed the training courses achieved satisfactory results, with 74-76% achieving good or excellent grades. In particular, the solidarity and close ties among militia members have been strengthened, contributing to the increasingly robust and widespread development of the local militia force.
