Recognizing that supporting and empowering women economically is a crucial solution to unleash their potential and improve their lives, in recent years, women's associations at all levels in the province have focused on and implemented comprehensive solutions to support and create conditions for members and women to develop their family economies, improve their quality of life, and affirm the role and position of women in the family and in various aspects of social life.

Helping women develop economically.

Leaders of the Provincial Women's Union visited the model farm of Hoang Hoa Phu Lam Pomelo Cooperative in Phu Lam commune, Doan Hung district.

Diverse support solutions

To help its members and women effectively develop economic models and achieve legitimate wealth, the Provincial Women's Union has actively directed its branches at all levels to innovate the content and methods of its activities, focusing strongly on the grassroots level, and effectively implementing Project 939 "Supporting Women's Entrepreneurship" with many specific and practical solutions, contributing to promoting emulation movements such as: helping members access preferential programs and policies, and sources of capital to support entrepreneurship and business startups; supporting members with seedlings and livestock... At the same time, it regularly reviews and classifies poor households, understands the aspirations and needs of its members, especially poor female heads of households, in order to promptly provide appropriate and effective assistance and support; and organizes training courses on entrepreneurship, economic development, and the application of science and technology in production... for its members and women.

From the beginning of 2024 to the present, the Women's Union at all levels has organized 2 courses and 29 training classes to raise awareness about starting a business, transferring advanced technologies in agriculture , e-commerce, and training in developing business models... attracting more than 2,200 members, women, business owners, cooperatives, business households, and liên kết groups/teams in the province to participate; organized 3 training classes on "The role of women in participating in cooperative management associated with the implementation of Project 01" for nearly 400 cadres, members, and women in Viet Tri City, Lam Thao District, and Phu Ninh District; and 1 training class to improve the capacity to support the collective economy and cooperatives for 110 trainees, including non-specialized Women's Union cadres at the commune level and leaders and members of cooperatives and cooperative groups managed by women...

In particular, in 2024, the Association supported the establishment of 3 new cooperatives: "Binh Phu Garment and Packaging", "Gia Thanh Seedless Persimmon", and "Tan Duc Sticky Rice Sauce"; 13 cooperative groups, and 17 economic development linkage groups, bringing the total to 16 cooperatives, 73 cooperative groups, 258 women's economic development linkage groups/teams, and 161 household economic development models. At the same time, it supported 7 livelihood models for poor women members; connected with organizations and philanthropists to support livelihood models for 29 women members in difficult circumstances in the districts of Ha Hoa, Doan Hung, Phu Ninh, Thanh Son, Tan Son, Yen Lap, and Cam Khe affected by Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath, with a total value of over 230 million VND.

In implementing the grassroots-level science and technology project "Building a biosafety-compliant broiler chicken farming model for women's association members in Thang Son commune, Thanh Son district" in 2024, the Provincial Women's Union supported 1,000 chicks and feed for 3 households participating in the "Biosafety-compliant chicken farming" model with a total value of 15 million VND.

Helping women develop economically.

Thanks to access to preferential loan capital, Ms. Chu Thi Ha, residing in Zone 8, Dong Xuan Commune, Thanh Ba District, has developed a livestock farming model that provides her with a stable income.

Develop multiple exemplary models.

Visiting Dong Xuan commune, Thanh Ba district, we had the opportunity to visit the tea cultivation and livestock farming model of Ms. Chu Thi Ha's family to see the significance of the concrete actions that the Women's Union has facilitated and supported her family in developing their economy. We learned that Ms. Ha's family previously relied solely on a few acres of rice paddies for their livelihood, leading to many difficulties. In 2019, with the desire to overcome poverty and knowing that the Women's Union offers various forms of assistance to its members for economic development, she boldly applied for a loan and received support from the Union, obtaining a 50 million VND loan from the preferential loan fund of the Social Policy Bank (NHCSXH) of the district, managed by the Women's Union of the commune, to expand her family's tea plantation.

In a conversation with us, Ms. Ha shared: “When we first started planting tea, my family experimented with a small area. After a while, seeing that the tea plants grew well, my family boldly borrowed capital to expand the tea plantation area. To date, our family's tea plantation covers more than 3,600 square meters . In addition, we also develop our economy by raising fish and broiler chickens, earning over 100 million VND in profit each year. Thanks to this, our family's life has changed significantly, and our finances are becoming more stable.”

The Women's Union of Van Lung commune, Phu Tho town, is also considered one of the exemplary branches implementing many solutions and economic models to support and assist female members, especially poor and single mothers, in building economic models that yield high efficiency. Among these is the "Revolving Loan" model, established by the Women's Union of the commune in 2013. This model helps female members facing capital difficulties who need to borrow chicken breeds to develop their livestock farming businesses. Initially, only a few households registered to borrow. After a while, members realized the model was very effective; it didn't require initial capital investment. They only needed to register the number of chicks to raise, and within six months, when they sold the chickens, they had to repay the initial amount for the chicks they registered for, without interest. As a result, many members registered to participate. From 2020 to the present, the Association has provided loans for over 10,000 chickens, with each household receiving an average loan of 50-500 chickens.

The family of Hoang Thi Na, in An Ninh Ha area, is one of the households that has risen to develop and stabilize their family economy thanks to the "Revolving Loan" model. She shared: "When the Women's Union established the 'Revolving Loan' model, I boldly borrowed chickens to raise. During the time I was raising them, I participated in training courses on livestock and poultry farming techniques organized by the Union, so I accumulated a lot of experience. After that, I decided to invest in a farm, borrowing 300-500 chicks each time to expand and develop the scale further. To date, my family has registered for loans 8 times and repaid the capital on time every time."

To date, the Women's Union at all levels has effectively managed entrusted loan funds with a total outstanding balance of over 1,900 billion VND for more than 47,000 members and women; coordinated vocational training for 1,942 female workers, and after training, over 1,400 were introduced to and created their own jobs. Thanks to this, in 2023, the Women's Union at all levels helped 2,030 households reduce poverty, including 878 households that escaped poverty.

Thanks to the comprehensive support from the Women's Union at all levels, from capital and knowledge to seedlings and livestock, many female members in the province have boldly developed their family economies, participating in cooperatives and production groups to develop production, create jobs, and generate stable income, thereby promoting the role of women in economic development and building family life.
