Gmail adds green authentication feature

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/05/2023

According to Engadget , when users receive an email from a Gmail account of a verified address, they will see a green checkmark next to the name in their inbox.

The checkmark update is Google's latest implementation of Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) technology , a feature Google began testing in Gmail in 2020. It initially allowed brands that had registered for BIMI to include verified icons in their emails. The blue checkmark is a clear sign that a sender is legitimate.

Authentication message when user clicks on green check mark

When hovering over the blue checkmark in Gmail, users will see a pop-up that reads " The sender of this email has verified that they own [the domain was sent from] and the logo in the profile image" . The pop-up includes a link directing users to a page with more information.

Google says strong email authentication helps users and email security systems identify and prevent spam, and gives users peace of mind about email content, creating a better email ecosystem for everyone .

Google is expected to roll out the new Gmail feature to all users later this week.
