Google Chrome is about to get a competitor.

The Information states: NLWeb is designed to deliver a superior experience by leveraging the power of AI, particularly ChatGPT, to make tasks smarter and more efficient.

OpenAI is developing the NLWeb project, a competitor to Google Chrome.

As a result, users can search for information, find answers, and complete tasks more quickly than with conventional search methods.

This is OpenAI's latest move to compete directly with Google Chrome, which currently holds over 66% of the global browser market share. Safari ranks second with 20% (according to data from StatCounter).

OpenAI is known to have worked with many major website developers and recruited many veteran engineers from Google Chrome. With its existing AI platform and talented team, OpenAI aims to create a major impact on the web browser market.

The US Department of Justice is also pressuring Google to sell Chrome to prevent a monopoly in the search industry. Therefore, if OpenAI's project is approved, the browser market will soon witness a significant change.
