Google has officially brought Gemini AI to Chrome for iOS and iPadOS, marking a significant expansion after the feature launched on computers in September.
This marks the first time iPhone and iPad users can directly use an AI assistant within the Chrome browser, although the rollout is currently limited to a select group of users.

Gemini AI is now available on Chrome for iOS and iPadOS.
In the latest Chrome update, Google has added AI-powered interaction capabilities directly on websites. Users can tap the spark icon to the left of the address bar and select "Ask Gemini" to start a conversation with the chatbot.
Gemini can support a variety of tasks, including:
Summarizing a website helps extract the main points and allows users to quickly grasp the important content.
Create a frequently asked questions (FAQ) list based on the site's topic and similar sources.
Test your knowledge of the learning materials directly on the website.
Adjust recipes to suit individual dietary needs.
Explain complex concepts by simplifying the content.
The answers are displayed as an overlay directly on the browser interface, making the interaction seamless. However, like other AI models, Gemini can still make mistakes or provide inaccurate information.
Currently only available to select users.
The Gemini feature on Chrome for iPhone and iPad is currently only rolled out in the US and requires the browser language to be set to English. Users must also sign in to Chrome to use it, and Gemini does not work in incognito mode or with accounts under 18. This feature is included in Chrome version 143.

Despite its limitations, the integration of Gemini has made Chrome one of the few mobile browsers with built-in AI on iOS. Currently, only Edge with Copilot is a significant competitor. Meanwhile, the AI browser market on computers is becoming more vibrant with many emerging names such as Atlas, Comet, and Dia.
Another challenge for Apple's AI ecosystem.
The arrival of Gemini on iOS inadvertently puts additional pressure on Apple within its own platform. Safari currently only has a few basic AI features such as content summarization and text editing assistance, and has not yet shown the breakthroughs that users had hoped for.
While other companies are accelerating the development of AI browsers, Apple seems to be lagging considerably behind. This is widening the gap in the AI browser race – a regrettable situation given that the iPhone is the world's most popular mobile platform.
