Ms. Truong Minh Hien - librarian of Tran Cao Van High School library (Tam Ky) shared the common difficulties of libraries today: "There are only textbooks and reference books".

Most school libraries, despite having infrastructure that meets national standards, still have difficulty attracting students. Part of the reason is that the books in school libraries are mainly textbooks and reference books.

Understanding this, many former students have mobilized and donated books, contributing many valuable reference books to the school's bookshelf. Ms. Ho Loan - a former student of Tran Cao Van High School (Tam Ky City) writes, publishes books and donates many literary books to the school library, making students very excited.

Many parents have seen this shortage of the school, and donated hundreds of valuable books to the library. Ms. HA shared that her child loves reading, so during breaks, she often goes to the school library, but there are not many books to read.

“At first, I took my family’s books and the books my children had read to donate. Then I saw that the school library was in great need, so I mobilized my friends to donate and buy books to give to the school library,” said Ms. HA.

Without waiting for the annual "Book and Reading Culture" Day, schools have always been proactive in the reading movement and promoting school libraries.

At the end of the school year, the school encourages students to donate textbooks to the school to provide additional support for disadvantaged students. The school also mobilizes parents, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to donate books and newspapers to the school library.

Ms. Truong Minh Hien added: “After receiving the books, the librarians will compile the quantity, classify the books and take professional measures to be able to put the books on the shelves to serve readers. We exploit this source of books effectively so that the books can really be effective for students and teachers and reach more readers.”

Literature teacher Pham Thi Hoang added that the school organized a book introduction contest with the theme "My favorite book" with the requirement that each class create a video introducing a book that they have read in the school library, the person introducing the book and illustrating in the video must be a member of the class...

“Doing this will help students come to the library more and contribute to creating an environment of “Friendly school, active students” - Ms. Hoang said.

These activities, associated with books and reading habits, will create a reading movement throughout the school, contributing to increasing the library's collection and creating a library with a diverse and rich source of books and documents. More specifically, this action spreads the spirit of contributing a small book, reading thousands of good books...
