Contributing to preserving and spreading our mother tongue in Laos.
On April 2nd, during a working visit to Salavane province, Da Nang collaborated with the province to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrading of the Friendship Primary School of the Vietnamese Association in Salavane province into a Friendship Primary and Secondary School. The construction site is located in Khongsedone district, an area where the number of Vietnamese and Lao students is steadily increasing.
According to statistics, the Vietnamese community in the central and southern provinces of Laos currently numbers around 11,000 people. Besides Vietnamese children working and living in Laos, the demand for Vietnamese language learning among Lao officials and students is also increasing. In response to this, Da Nang has allocated tens of billions of dong over the years to invest in building and improving the infrastructure of Lao-Vietnamese friendship schools and Vietnamese language centers in these localities. Notably, the city also sends 10 teachers annually to teach at these Vietnamese language centers.
Thanks to these efforts, not only will future generations of the Vietnamese community in Laos be proficient in the Vietnamese language, but the Vietnamese language in particular, and the values and cultural identity of the Vietnamese people in general, will also be spread to the local people.
The song about President Ho Chi Minh, presented by students of the Salavane Provincial Vietnamese Language Center to the Da Nang City delegation during their recent visit, is a testament to this.
