Typical examples of economic activity
Mr. Ho Truong Sinh's house (of the Co ethnic group) is situated in a cool garden in Tra Giang commune. Although over 70 years old, Mr. Sinh still diligently plants fruit trees, cultivates forests, and grows rice in his fields every day.
Mr. Sinh's family farm, covering over 2 hectares, was built quite far from the residential area where he lives. Therefore, Mr. Sinh regularly makes several trips to and from the farm each day.
Mr. Sinh said: "Working makes old age more enjoyable; earning a living and then contributing a little to society is also a source of happiness. When I work, people listen, trust, and follow my lead."
In an effort to develop his family's economy, Mr. Sinh sells over 300 free-range chickens and two batches of pigs annually. He also cultivates nearly 20 hectares of acacia trees, earning almost 200 million VND per year; and has expanded his services to include catering and wedding banquets, providing employment for villagers while generating a stable income.
Mr. Sinh is a respected and enthusiastic senior citizen of Tra Giang commune, always setting a good example and fully participating in meetings organized by the commune and district.
At the meetings, Mr. Sinh proposed many practical solutions for mobilizing elderly members to participate in production development and build harmonious, exemplary families.
In addition, he participated in campaigning and mobilizing villagers to voluntarily donate land for road construction and school building. His own family also donated nearly 200 square meters of residential land, many trees, and other structures to build a clean and convenient concrete road leading into the village, facilitating traffic and the transportation of goods to the outside.
Mr. Sinh is a shining example of an elderly person, like an ancient tree casting its shade amidst the vast forests of the Ngoc Que highlands. No matter how busy he is, whenever he hears about funerals, illnesses, or misfortunes in the village, he always makes time to visit and offer encouragement and support.
For elderly members who are frail, lonely, or infirm, he regularly contacts them and, together with representatives from the District and Commune Senior Citizens' Associations, visits their families to offer gifts and help bring them more joy in life.
Mr. Ho Truong Sinh was honored with a Commemorative Medal by the Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs in 2016 for his significant contributions to the building and development of national unity among Vietnamese ethnic groups; and received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in 2017 for his outstanding achievements in implementing policies for those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Mr. Sinh shared: "For people in the highlands, they still have the mindset of wanting to be poor so they can receive support, and they are unwilling to work hard, so I, along with the village and commune leaders, have to persuade and help them. Many people here plant acacia trees, and after harvesting them, they don't have money to buy seedlings, so I provide additional support."
After 5 years, when it's time to start exploiting the resources, they repay the debt to help raise awareness of self-improvement. My family always tries to support those who are less fortunate, encouraging our fellow villagers to do business and build their own lives."
Sponsorship for orphans
Not only does Mr. Sinh excel in his work with the elderly association, as a respected figure and successful producer, but he is also loved by the Co and Ca Dong people here for his kind heart. In the village, many unfortunate people face hardship and misfortune, and Mr. Sinh always takes them under his wing and helps them. Therefore, the villagers call him "The Father of the Orphaned Children."

Previously, seeing the plight of Ms. Ho Thi Be in the village, an orphan with no one to rely on, Mr. Sinh adopted her, provided her with a proper education, and then arranged her marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Sinh also gave Ms. Be a piece of land and helped her build a house, treating her like their own daughter.
With emotion, Ms. Bé said, "Thanks to Mr. Sinh for adopting me, taking care of me, and providing me with an education, my life is as good as it is today. I deeply appreciate and am grateful for Mr. Sinh's kindness."
Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Sinh also took in two orphaned brothers, Ho Nhat Linh (from the Co ethnic group), as foster parents in the village. Their father tragically passed away early, and shortly after, their mother, their only support, also died from a serious illness. With no relatives left, the charity house became their only shelter from the sun and rain. Seeing their pitiful situation, Mr. Sinh and his wife took them in, providing for their education until they reached adulthood.
