Ambassador Philipp Agathonos shared that 30 years ago he came to work in Vietnam and now returning, he is happy to see the country's remarkable development. However, the Ambassador believes that the rapid development of each country comes with inevitable consequences such as environmental pollution.

Ambassador Philipp Agathonos informed that the capital of the Republic of Austria, Vienna, is a smart city, and the capital's government is trying to coordinate so that people spend the least amount of time on administrative procedures and travel and have more time for personal life. Therefore, the Austrian diplomat believes that Vienna and Hanoi have many potential areas for cooperation in the future.

Ambassador Philipp Agathonos said that in May and June, a number of high-ranking delegations from the Republic of Austria will visit Vietnam to exchange at the ministerial and city levels on areas considered to be the country's strengths such as technology, digital transformation, cyber security, environmental monitoring, etc.

According to the Ambassador, Hanoi is having a project to build a subway while Austria has strengths in the field of tunneling; therefore, the two sides can cooperate in this project. In addition, the Republic of Austria also has a lot of experience in the fields of cable cars, waste treatment, etc., all of which are potential areas for the two sides to cooperate in the future.

Thanking Ambassador Philipp Agathonos for sharing information, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that Vietnam and the Republic of Austria established diplomatic relations in 1972. After more than 50 years, the traditional friendship between the two countries has had a solid foundation and achieved many achievements in all three aspects of politics , economy and culture - people-to-people exchange.

The Republic of Austria is always among the top 10 trade partners of Vietnam in the European Union (EU). The annual trade turnover between the two countries regularly reaches around 3 billion USD. The economies of the two countries are very complementary to each other as Austria has high technology and management skills and Vietnam has a large market, an open economy as a gateway to Southeast Asia and Asia, a young, dynamic and creative workforce.

Regarding the relationship between Hanoi and the Republic of Austria, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee stated that the two sides have had a number of delegation exchanges recently to strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations between Hanoi and Vienna (Austria) and localities of the two countries...

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that with the approval of the adjustment of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan to 2045, with a vision to 2065 (the Plan), the amount of work the city has to handle is huge. The Republic of Austria has a lot of experience in the field of green and sustainable transport development, which is an issue that Hanoi is interested in solving in the development process. The two cities can identify this as a promising area of cooperation in the coming time, focusing on exploiting preferential capital sources, technology transfer and human resource training. In addition, the two sides are studying the possibility of establishing cooperative relations with cities and localities of the Republic of Austria as a basis for promoting cooperation activities and projects between Hanoi and the neighboring country.

On the basis of the good cooperation between the two countries, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh believes that during his term, Ambassador Philipp Agathonos will strongly promote cooperation activities between Hanoi and the Embassy of the Republic of Austria to achieve new results in the near future.
