Authorities discovered a large-scale illegal gas bottling operation in the middle of a field in Thanh Tri commune.

After a period of gathering information and developing a plan of action, the Economic Crime, Corruption, and Environmental Crime Prevention and Investigation Team (Team 7) – Economic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, in coordination with Market Management Team No. 14 (Hanoi Market Management Department), caught red-handed an illegal gas bottling operation in the Tay field area, Hamlet 2, Yen My, Thanh Tri commune.

The facility in violation is owned by Mr. PTG (born in 1988, residing in Thanh Tri commune). At the time of inspection, Mr. G. could not present a license or documents proving the legality of his LPG bottling operations.

Authorities have seized all evidence showing signs of violations, including 6 LPG bottling machines, 1 storage tank with a capacity of 10m³, 55 empty gas cylinders, and 46 gas cylinders containing over 837 kg of LPG. All of these items lacked invoices or documents proving their legal origin, with an estimated total value of approximately 1 billion VND.

The task force sealed all the seized evidence and simultaneously compiled the case file and took statements for processing according to regulations.

The investigation into the case is being expanded to determine the source of the LPG supply, the transporters, and the distribution system of this facility.

According to authorities, illegal gas bottling and trading activities not only seriously violate regulations on fire safety and the trading of liquefied petroleum gas, but also pose a potential risk of causing particularly serious consequences if an accident occurs.

Large-capacity LPG storage tanks, located in open areas lacking fire prevention and extinguishing systems, can easily explode with just a spark or improper handling, threatening the lives of people in the surrounding area.

Authorities advise citizens and businesses to only purchase and use gas cylinders from licensed dealers with clear origins. Furthermore, if any suspicious activity involving illegal gas refilling or trading is detected, it should be immediately reported to the police and market management authorities for prompt action.
