With a rejuvenated squad, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) became the center of attention on the opening day of the V-League 2024-2025 season after a resounding victory over Quang Nam and taking the lead in the standings. The "mountain town" team will host Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) at their home stadium in Pleiku at 5 PM on September 21st (FPT Play) in a match using VAR.

Tran Gia Bao became the youngest player to compete in the V-League and also set a record for the youngest player to score in this competition. At the age of 16, Gia Bao was only a reserve option for the senior players of Hoang Anh Gia Lai 's first team, but he was very confident and mature when given the opportunity to play by the coaching staff.

Hai Phong also earned their first point in this season's V-League after a dramatic draw against Hanoi Police at their home stadium, Lach Tray.
