Hai Long has been called up to play against MU.

Nguyen Hai Long has been called up to the ASEAN All-Stars team to play a friendly match against Manchester United.

"Nguyen Hai Long will be part of the Southeast Asian All-Stars squad for the match against Manchester United in Malaysia on May 28th," a brief announcement from Hanoi FC late on May 7th stated.

This is most likely an alternative choice for coach Kim Sang-sik to Nguyen Quang Hai, as the Hanoi Police FC midfielder is busy playing in many important competitions both domestically and regionally. Coach Alexandre Polking expressed his unwillingness to let Quang Hai go to Malaysia to play the friendly match against Manchester United and asked the club to intervene.

Besides Nguyen Hai Long, Do Duy Manh and Nguyen Hoang Duc are also prominent names in the Vietnamese national team, highly regarded based on their recent form and achievements.

Hai Long was called up to the national team during the time of coach Park Hang-seo, but it wasn't until coach Kim Sang-sik took over that the midfielder born in 2000 began to make his mark. At the ASEAN Cup 2024, Hai Long scored the first and last goal for the "Golden Star Warriors".

While playing for Hanoi FC, this player regularly appeared in the starting lineup and contributed many important goals.

Regarding the composition of the ASEAN All-Stars team, coach Kim Sang Sik is facing difficulties in preparing the squad as quite a few players have withdrawn from the call-up list. Although no longer dominating the Premier League as before, Manchester United still boasts a large fan base in Southeast Asia. The friendly match between ASEAN All-Stars and MU is part of a charity fundraising campaign, and also aims to honor outstanding Southeast Asian football players.
