The nine-day Lunar New Year holiday (February 14-22) witnessed a strong surge in tourism across the country. Many localities simultaneously recorded high visitor numbers and revenue, even setting new records for the holiday.
Occupancy rates in many places have reached near-full capacity, while some attractions are experiencing localized overcrowding due to a surge in visitors.
Record
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the city expects to welcome approximately 1.34 million visitors, a 36.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025, the highest number ever recorded during the Tet holiday. This includes about 217,000 international visitors and 1.13 million domestic visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 4.87 trillion VND , a 40.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The top 10 international tourist markets visiting Hanoi during this period include: China, South Korea, India, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Taiwan (China), Germany, the Philippines, and Australia.
A highlight is that Hanoi is offering free admission to 17 historical sites and scenic spots in the city, allowing locals and tourists to enjoy themselves throughout the holiday.

In Ho Chi Minh City , the total number of visitors is estimated at 4.3 million, including approximately 170,000 international visitors, an increase of 51.7%. Accommodation occupancy reached about 75%, and tourism revenue is estimated at 12,150 billion VND .
Domestic tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City are mainly groups combining visiting relatives and tourism, families and friends, with a trend towards short trips, sightseeing in the city center such as flower streets, pedestrian streets, Tet markets, shopping, food and events. Nguyen Hue Flower Street continues to be a highlight attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
In the coastal areas of Vung Tau, Long Hai, Ho Tram, and Ho Coc, the number of tourists has increased significantly, especially those from Ho Chi Minh City and the southeastern provinces. Tourism activities in Binh Duong ward are showing positive signs, concentrated at the Dai Nam Cultural and Historical Tourist Area.

Da Nang city welcomed over 1.1 million visitors, with activities attracting tourists such as the Dragon Bridge spewing fire and water for several nights before and after New Year's Eve; and the Han River Bridge rotating to allow boat traffic for sightseeing.
In Quang Ninh , during the 8-day holiday (February 14-21), the locality welcomed approximately 1,128,000 visitors, an increase of 16% compared to the same period in 2025; of which international visitors are estimated at 248,000.
Popular destinations such as Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 80,000 visitors; Sun World amusement park approximately 13,000; Quang Ninh Museum about 8,000; and Cua Ong Temple about 80,000. The number of visitors entering through Mong Cai International Border Gate is estimated at 35,000.
In Hue , the city welcomed over 523,600 visitors, a 245% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these, over 249,260 were international visitors (a 219% increase), and over 274,370 were domestic visitors (a 273% increase). The average occupancy rate was 78%. On the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year), the occupancy rate reached 99%, the highest during the holiday period.

Overloaded
In Tay Ninh , the province welcomed approximately 705,000 visitors, an increase of 19.5%. The Ba Den Mountain Spring Festival, themed "The Beauty of Tay Ninh in 2026," which opened on February 20th, attracted over 300,000 attendees. The sight of crowds of people spreading out mats and patiently waiting for the festival to begin at the foot of Ba Den Mountain created a breathtaking scene.
Tuyen Quang recorded 252,090 visitors (from February 14-21), including 15,100 international tourists and 236,990 domestic tourists. The occupancy rate for hotels throughout the province reached 55-60%, with Quan Ba, Yen Minh, and Meo Vac reaching 75-80%; Dong Van and Lung Cu reached 100%.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, the entire province organized more than 90 cultural activities and festivals. Some prominent destinations such as Tham Ma Pass, Nho Que River, Lung Cu Flagpole, and Lo Lo Chai experienced congestion and overcrowding, forcing many tourists to abandon their trips.
Over the six days (February 14-19), Ninh Binh province welcomed more than 1.36 million visitors, generating estimated revenue of over 2,040 billion VND . Besides traditional markets, the number of visitors from India and several European countries increased significantly.
At destinations such as the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Hoa Lu Ancient Town, Bai Dinh Pagoda, Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area, and Thung Ui, the number of visitors increased right from the morning, causing overcrowding.

From the 27th day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of Tet, Quang Ngai welcomed approximately 610,000 visitors, an increase of 24%; the number of overnight stays reached 390,000, with an average room occupancy rate of 65%.
Popular tourist destinations include Mang Den, Ly Son, My Khe Beach, Sa Huynh, Binh Son, Mo Duc, Dong Son, and community-based tourism villages. In Ly Son, occupancy rates reached 80-90%, with many establishments fully booked; Mang Den reached 90-95%; and some hotels in central Kon Tum exceeded 90%.
Khanh Hoa recorded over one million visitors (from February 15-21), an increase of 112.17% compared to the same period last year. Hotel occupancy rates for 4-5 star hotels reached 83.11%; many coastal and island resorts were fully booked from the 2nd to the 5th day of Tet (Lunar New Year).
Meanwhile, An Giang province welcomed 1.7 million visitors during the 9-day Tet holiday. Phu Quoc alone received nearly 366,000 visitors, with international tourists accounting for a large proportion.
On February 18th (the second day of the Lunar New Year), Phu Quoc Island welcomed 93 flights with nearly 17,000 passengers, including 47 domestic and 46 international flights. This was one of the highest passenger volumes recorded on any given day.

Lam Dong province welcomed approximately 910,000 visitors, including 60,000 international tourists. The peak period was from February 18-20 (the 2nd to 4th day of the Lunar New Year), with many accommodations in Da Lat almost fully booked.
The occupancy rate for hotels across the province reached 75-80%; the 3-5 star segment reached 85-95%. Room and service prices increased 1.5-3 times but remained within acceptable limits, with no unusual fluctuations. Traffic was generally smooth, except for National Highway 28B through Dai Ninh Pass, which experienced occasional congestion due to construction.
