Two candidates violated regulations on the first day of the 10th grade entrance exam.

VHO - At the end of the first day of the 2026-2027 high school entrance exam, Hanoi recorded two candidates violating regulations by bringing mobile phones into the examination room. According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the exams took place safely and seriously; nearly 124,000 candidates took the Literature and Foreign Language exams.

In the Literature exam held on the morning of May 30th, Hanoi had 224 examination centers, 5,300 non-specialized examination rooms, and 385 reserve examination rooms. The number of candidates taking the exam was 123,692 out of 124,082, achieving a participation rate of 99.69%; 390 candidates were absent.

Later that afternoon, in the Foreign Language subject, the number of candidates taking the exam was 123,681 out of 124,082, achieving a participation rate of 99.68%; 401 candidates were absent.

Neither exam session recorded any violations of regulations by invigilators. However, in each session, one candidate violated the regulations by bringing a mobile phone into the examination room. Additionally, in each session, five candidates required assistance with their exams due to health issues or medical needs.

Regarding the exam, many candidates felt that the morning Literature exam was approachable and manageable, yet still had a differentiating factor, requiring candidates to read the questions carefully, reason logically, and express themselves clearly.

With the Foreign Language exam taking place in the afternoon, candidates had varying assessments of the difficulty level. At the exam center at Truong Dinh High School, Nguyen Thuy Linh, a student from Tan Mai Secondary School, said that this year's English exam was quite difficult for her abilities. "I'm not very good at English, so I found this year's exam quite challenging. There were some questions I wasn't really confident in my answers to," Linh shared.

Meanwhile, Tran Gia Han, a student from Hoang Liet Secondary School, felt that the exam was at a moderate level. "I found the exam quite good; I was able to answer most of the questions," Gia Han said.

Dang Ngoc Minh Chau, a student in class 9A3 at Pascal Secondary School, commented that the English exam was easier than the Literature exam in the morning. According to Minh Chau, the exam had a clear structure, and students with a solid grasp of basic knowledge could complete the test quite easily.

Some teachers commented that this year's foreign language exam closely followed the junior high school curriculum, testing basic knowledge areas such as vocabulary, grammar, communication, and reading comprehension. The exam was not too unfamiliar to students who had prepared thoroughly, but it showed differentiation in the last group of questions, especially the reading comprehension, fill-in-the-blank, and context-appropriate answer questions.

According to the teacher, students who have a solid grasp of basic knowledge and do their work carefully can achieve a good score. However, to achieve a high score, candidates need a good vocabulary, stable reading comprehension skills, and the ability to eliminate incorrect answers in potentially confusing questions.

On the morning of May 31st, Hanoi candidates continued to take the Mathematics exam, with a time limit of 120 minutes. For candidates applying for specialized classes, the specialized subject exam will be held on June 1st.
