On Weibo, the account of leaker Instant Digital shared information about devices expected to support iOS 27. Based on the list, four products currently running iOS 26 but not included are the second-generation iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

If the rumors are accurate, this means iOS 27 will only support iPhone 12 and later models, as well as the third-generation iPhone SE (released in 2022).

According to 9to5Mac , Apple sometimes stops supporting certain older iPhone models after introducing a new iOS version. However, some versions remain compatible with all devices that could run the previous version.

If the rumors are accurate, this would be the second consecutive year Apple has stopped supporting older iPhones when introducing a new iOS version. Last year, the iPhone XS series was not included in the iOS 26 update list.

Traditionally, devices that don't support the latest iOS still receive software updates, but only for security patches and certificate renewals, not for adding new features.

Based on rumors, most of the new features in iOS 27 revolve around the Apple Intelligence suite, which requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later. Therefore, even if they support iOS 27, many older models may not have all the latest features.

A notable upgrade in iOS 27 may come from a new version of Siri. According to Bloomberg , the new Siri is expected to function more like a chatbot, separated into a standalone app, and capable of accessing and summarizing information from websites.

Siri's interface is integrated into Dynamic Island. When activated, the assistant effect appears at the top of the screen. Users can also open a new search bar by swiping down from the center of the top edge of the screen. Siri's results are displayed as cards, which can be swiped to access chatbot mode.

The new assistant may also appear in the camera app, allowing for object recognition and text translation via Visual Intelligence.

iPhone users will be able to choose third-party AI models for various tasks. According to sources, the AI models integrated into iOS 27 come from Anthropic and Google, in addition to the current ChatGPT.

Similar to the existing ChatGPT capabilities in iOS 26, users can choose third-party models for tasks such as answering questions, editing, and creating text and images.

With Siri, users can select a unique voice for each model. This makes it easier to distinguish which AI model is processing the query.

Apple is expected to launch iOS 27 at the WWDC 2026 conference on June 8th. Other changes include refinements to the Dynamic Island interface, and improvements to the camera and weather apps.
