Many schools consider transcripts for admission to the medical field.

Phenikaa University, Dai Nam University, Van Lang University and many other private medical schools announced admission based on academic records, along with a number of other methods.

This year, Phenikaa University ( Hanoi ) will enroll 220 students in the Medical Faculty through three methods: direct admission, based on high school graduation exam results, and based on high school transcripts. Of which, the transcript review method is expected to enroll 30-40% of the total enrollment target.

With this method, candidates applying for the Medical major must have excellent 12th grade academic performance, and have an average score of 24 or higher in the three subjects in the admission group, calculated based on two semesters of grade 11 and semester I of grade 12.

Also in Hanoi, Dai Nam University plans to reserve 60% of its 380 medical school quotas for admission based on academic records. Candidates must have excellent academic performance in grade 12, a graduation score of 8 or higher, and a total score of 24 in three subjects according to the admission combination. This level does not include regional and subject priorities.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Van Lang University accepts transcripts with the same criteria as Dai Nam University. However, in addition to considering grade 12 transcripts, candidates can choose to consider using grade 11 and first semester grades of grade 12.

While Phenikaa, Dai Nam, and Van Lang schools require the total score of the transcript according to the admission combination, many other private schools only set minimum requirements, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training . Accordingly, candidates must have excellent academic performance in grade 12, or have a graduation score of 8 or higher.

These schools include Tan Tao University (Long An), Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Hong Bang International (HCMC), Hanoi Business and Technology, Vo Truong Toan School ( Hau Giang ), or Phan Chu Trinh University (Quang Nam). However, some schools consider 12th grade transcripts, some consider 5 semesters. Because most of them have not announced their enrollment plans, the number of quotas for the transcript review method has not been determined.

In the public sector, most schools do not consider admission based on high school academic results for medical majors. Only Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy used this method last year but has not announced this year's admission plan.

Sharing at the end of March about admission based on high school academic results, Ms. Cao Quynh, Head of Admissions Department of Dai Nam University, said that candidates' transcript scores represent their academic results throughout the entire process, and are evaluated by many high school teachers, so they are "very reliable".

Combined with the input quality assurance threshold set by the school and the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms. Quynh said that candidates admitted by this method meet the requirements of the study program well, and their qualifications are no different from candidates admitted by other methods.

Like public schools, medical training programs at private universities last 6 years. Tuition fees range from several tens to several hundreds of millions of VND per year.

For example, at Phenikaa University, the average tuition fee for medical students is 150 million VND per year. However, students enrolling this year are offered a discount of 75 million VND. From the second year onwards, tuition fees are reduced by 40% but not more than 5 years. Hong Bang International University charges 180 million VND per year.

Currently, there are 29 schools and academies nationwide that train in the medical field, mainly considering admission based on the combination of blocks A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology). Some private schools also consider the combination D07 (Math, Chemistry, English) or D08 (Math, Biology, English). Hong Bang International University in particular considers the combination A16 (Math, Literature and Natural Sciences).
