On the eve of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, Unit 1 of the Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant was inaugurated, marking an important milestone and demonstrating the outstanding achievements of Ha Tinh's industrial sector during this term.

With a total investment of $2.2 billion, comprising two generating units with a combined capacity of over 1,200 MW, this is one of the most modern thermal power projects in Vietnam, possessing significant potential and expected to make an important contribution to the province's industry and economic growth.
Mr. Hoang Trong Binh, Deputy General Director of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Company Limited, said: “With the persistent efforts of the team of engineers and experts from both domestic and international sources, Unit 1 of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant was connected to the grid at 0:00 on July 22, 2025, and Unit 2 is expected to be connected in the third quarter of 2025. When both units are operational, the plant will supply approximately 7.8 billion kWh/year to the national power grid and make a significant contribution to local budget revenue.”

Along with the Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant, the industrial sector of Ha Tinh province has made significant breakthroughs in development during the past term. With an average growth rate of nearly 7% per year, the processing and manufacturing industry accounts for a high proportion of the overall industrial structure. Key industrial products such as electricity, steel, and beer make important contributions to the economy, accounting for 25% of the GRDP… Many large-scale projects have received investment approval and accelerated construction progress to bring them into operation, creating momentum for the key sectors of the economy.
For example: The VinES Battery Manufacturing Plant started operations in July 2023; the VinES-Gotion Lithium Battery Joint Venture Plant will begin production in early 2025; the Gia Lach Industrial Park Expansion Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project is currently undergoing land clearance; the Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project has commenced; the Bac Thach Ha Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project is under construction; the HBRE Ha Tinh Wind Farm project is being implemented...
Notably, in less than 7 months of construction, the state-of-the-art VinFast electric vehicle manufacturing plant, the leading in the region, was completed and began operations at the end of June 2025.

In addition, activities in industrial clusters have been quite vibrant in recent years, making a positive contribution to the development of the industry. Currently, there are 23 industrial clusters established in the province, with a total area of over 600 hectares, of which 19 are already in operation. These clusters have attracted 351 registered production and business establishments, of which 274 projects are already in operation, achieving an average occupancy rate of 58%, with a production value of approximately 4,500 billion VND/year and creating jobs for more than 9,000 workers.
In addition to growth in indicators and product diversification, the industrial sector in the 2021-2025 period also followed the trend of developing green, high-tech, and modern industries, in line with the green and sustainable growth orientation in the spirit of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Song La Xanh Packaging Joint Stock Company has invested in many modern machines and equipment, expanding the scale of its production and business development.
For the 2025-2030 term, industry continues to be identified as the pillar of the economy, with the goal of industry and construction accounting for 51% of GRDP and the value-added share of the processing and manufacturing industry reaching 29% by 2030. Accordingly, Ha Tinh province is orienting its industrial development towards in-depth, modern growth; focusing on promoting the development of high-tech industries with high added value and strong spillover effects.
Currently, several large industrial projects are being implemented and promoted, such as: the stainless steel and high-quality steel production plant; the Vung Ang LNG storage facility; the Vung Ang 3 LNG power plant; and renewable energy projects… These projects are expected to create a new impetus for the industrial sector in the coming years.

For the 2025-2030 term, the industrial sector continues to be identified as a pillar of economic growth, with a development orientation towards in-depth, modern, green, and sustainable growth.
Sharing his vision for industrial development in the coming term, Mr. Le Trung Phuoc, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated: “We will strongly restructure the industry, developing it in depth and modernization; promote the development of steel production, electric vehicles, high-tech industries, green technologies, and downstream steel industries; implement key energy projects such as gas-fired power, wind power, solar power, waste-to-energy, hydropower, and LNG storage facilities… according to the Power Development Plan VIII. At the same time, we will continue to rapidly expand the Vung Ang Economic Zone, replan the Cau Treo International Border Gate Economic Zone, and complete the infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters to prepare land for attracting investment.”
With a solid foundation built during the 2020-2025 period, and a development strategy planned for the new term, Ha Tinh is facing a great opportunity to break through and become a bright spot on the national industrial map. Synchronizing the development of modern and green industries with improved infrastructure and a better investment and business environment will be key factors in helping Ha Tinh realize its sustainable development goals in the coming years.
